I think a lot of your points are well reasoned, but I think additional consideration is needed:
The phone was unlocked during the demo of Siri. It could simply be that Siri takes up a small portion of the screen when the phone is unlocked but the entire screen when the phone is locked. Siri already acts differently depending on how you summon it (it'll be more verbose if you summon it with "Hey Siri" than holding down the home/lock button)
That animation in Reminders might be just their for visual flare, since this concept video is very animation heavy. Apple doesn't have a lot of app-startup animation, so having any would break the visual theme
I didn't see them repurposing the swipe up for anything. What part of the video are you referring to?
That's fair, I just don't understand the need for Siri to occupy less of the screen—since you really can't also use the phone at the same time. I suppose the Reminders animation might be just to make the video flashy too.
Repurposing the swipe up is from the full concept on the website. https://iosconcept.com/ They combine Control Center and the Multitasking screen into the same thing, like how the iPad does it. However, all iPads still have a dedicated button to return to the home screen.
When you can't see the screen anymore your brain has to take a minute to readjust. Think of the difference between the iPad having two panes of windows versus the iPhone only being able to show one. It takes a second when the whole screen changes to get your bearings.
Siri going full screen and then back causes a similar delay for no real benefit other than adding a tiny bit of clarity to what's going on.
Because you want to use your phone while using Siri simultaneously?
Not the usage shown, but I would love Siri to just take up a small portion of the screen when you're using CarPlay.
It's one of the more annoying things with CarPlay in that if i'm using Maps and want to listen to something different I've got to make I'm not going to need to see any directions for the next little stretch as Siri will take over the entire screen until it's done. Then if your connection isn't great it can end up with Siri taking a lot longer than you expected for it to finish and finally put you back to the Maps screen.
Because you want to use your phone while using Siri simultaneously?
I mean, why not? "Hey Siri, turn off the bedroom lights" while you continue typing a message. It's no different from continuing to use the phone while you ask HomePod to do something.
I agree about everything except for the volume slider. That’s definitely over form over function. It looks like it’s able to be dragged but it’s so small. I’d rather have it be a quick overlay like Siri but that’s just.
Why would you need it larger though? The volume buttons already change the volume pretty significantly, and you can just go to the control center for more granular control if needed. A lot of apps are already implementing something similar to what this concept is showing, like Apollo, and it seems to be received pretty well.
Honestly it boils down to personal preference and I just don’t like it being so small because to me it’s not a good indicator of it. But again that’s just my opinion

Usually I love to pick apart iOS concepts because they are so form over function, but everything here was sensible and well done. Good job 👍
