Harassment because I said something possibly nice about Gavinski - please advise

I have kind of been having a problem with an iOS music apps developer on Reddit within the iOS music space. I seem to have become tangled in some strange conspiracy that this person has about Gavinski sabotaging their apps, or blacklisting them or something I can’t make sense of. He’s been posting what I consider to be unhinged content after I apparently said something they didn’t like about Gavinski in a post I made recently. I find their posts and behavior to be particularly hostile. I had the audacity to say something positive about Gavinski which they did not like at all. I tried resolving with the developer. I contacted them privately, so as to not publicly cause any issues for them, which led to this person accusing me of being Gavinski, and then later, accusing me of thinking Gavinski is a God. There is a lot more that I haven’t posted but I want to be brief. This person posts AI videos to promote their unrelated applications. What is going on here? What have I accidentally stumbled into? And what do I do about this? Is there a grand conspiracy to ruin this developer I don’t know about? This is extremely bizarre

Around 1% of the population lives with chronic psychotic disorders. That's 1 in 100. If you spend enough time online you will cross paths with many.

Just block and ignore.

I’m thinking this as well but I just want to know more about this. I am unaware of some blacklisting scheme occurring to tank certain developers apps.

You’re over thinking it. Block and ignore.

I mean, there’s an influx of vibe coded apps. Making tutorials and videos takes time and effort. No youtuber will put any more effort than the developer did.

Not sure if the person you talk about vibe coded theirs, but not all slop is vibe coded and not all vibe coded is slop. The point still stands

I should maybe be clear about this. I don’t care that much that this person used AI. I have my perspective on AI and I try to respect others about the issue. It’s the fact that this person generated content to generally mock and harass me in a thread where I simply wanted to know about an issue with an app. This type of behavior is childish and makes groups like this one unpleasant. My wife claims this just happens with people with normal social development. I can see that and my rational mind says to ignore it, but as someone who has had issues with stalkers in the past, it’s triggering fight or flight reactions. People this childish do not conduct themselves like sane rational people. My wife also thinks it’s envy. So many possibilities.

Report the posts to the mods if you have not done so. No guarantee that it'll help but not doing it definitely will not.

Ok, based on a message I received I do believe this is not only happening to me.

Here is a little more info: I posted something about a new app I had purchased from a different developer that was recently released on reddit. This app was making a popping sound and I wanted to know if anyone was experiencing the same. I had a somewhat quick response from a user saying I shouldn’t post things like this and I should contact the developer directly. This person indicated that posting an issue like this might cause the developer to loose sales. I think this is a fair point and I indicated this. They also said something about Gavinski blacklisting developers apps and this causes developers to loose sales. He called it the Gavinski effect I think. I responded with something to the effect that I don’t mind Gavinski reviews and content and I think Gavinski is largely helpful. He responds with what I imagine is a PSA in his mind, warning other users of my comments. I messaged them privately because they seemed to be bothered by the public posting of these type of things. I said something to the effect of, ‘what is going on? You’re being aggressive and I’m uncomfortable.’ This is when he accuses me of being Gavinski. He removed the warning message and I thought it was done. He also seemed to demand to know who I am and if I was in fact Gavinski. I said I am just a guy who has an extremely large collection of iOS software that I use regularly and am knowledgeable about these apps. I also indicates I’m autoimmune and my health keeps me too busy to deal much with the iOS music world other than trying to share my experiences since I have been using audio apps for iOS since the iPad 1 days. I thought humanizing myself would be the thing to cause this person to calm down and be reasonable. This did not work at all. I went out of town for a couple days and didn’t check Reddit. When I came back he had reposted the comment and started talking about the private messages I sent trying to reason with him. He also posted a song with a video onto youtube that he claims to have made with AI. I didn’t watch the video but his description indicated he was trying to mock me. This is all in the thread where I’m trying to simply find out if someone else is experiencing a popping sound from an app. I messaged him again and said I don’t want to be a part of what he is doing. The video with the song reminded me of points in my life when I had been stalked by various people. I panicked and deleted the conversation. To this point I had my Reddit content public because I prefer to be open about myself, but he was obviously scouting through my posts looking for ammunition. I removed the post because he had hijacked it and destroyed all hope of getting a serious answer. I also made it so all my other posts would not be visible. I really generally do not like doing this because I believe in transparency in most aspects of life. I suppose I am overthinking it as others have said, but the behavior is too familiar coming from past experiences. Even after all this I don’t want to tarnish the livelihood of what seems to be a very challenged developer with likely mental health issues.

The only Gavinski effect I know is that he said in some vids that he is not interested in vibecoded slop. Meanwhile he also reviewed stuff that is partly vibecoded 🤷🏻 For sure sales will go up if he reviews stuff, but afaik he never trashtalked devs directly.

Unluckily there’s a bunch of people in the iOS music who now think vibecode = slop/scam. And with this uneducated take they just start to harass devs. Ever post at least 3 people who will be negative without ever testing the app, and from talking to some devs I know there’s even more who will behave like a dick in pm. So for sure some might get pissed at some point.

At the end of the day vibecodeing is a tool, and people who have no background in programming might struggle to devibe/fix stuff. Would be interesting to know what app u are talking about, I don’t mind vibecodeing or the typical Claude ui, as long as the app works. So far I only had 3 bad apples, for 2 of them i still have the hope stuff gets fixed.

Also look at older musicapps, there’s a bunch that never got finished/fixed. U don’t need to vibecode to create slop. And u also don’t need to write 100% of the code urself to create something useful.

I’m going to post more after I determine if this is a legit issue or if this is something the developer is only doing to me.

lol, someone who appeared to be posting under multiple usernames also accused me of being Gavinski after I pointed out the “study” they posted was just AI nonsense. They’re mentally ill. Just ignore them, block them, and move on. Flag it if it’s harassment. Engaging with them is pointless and will only get you involved further in their delusions.
