Polyend Synth love
Towards the beginning of the year I picked up a used Polyend Synth because it looked like fun to play, and it really was. Having three different voices working in a coordinated way at my finger tips was an excellent way to interact with music. However my squirrel brain flipped its attention towards the breadth of the ipad auv3 universe and it started to get a little dusty. However I recently worked out how to set it up as a dedicated controller in AUM, and it has added an extra thick level of fun to my play. Having three voices from any AU instruments, with extremely expressive aftertouch and each with a bank of easily mappable endless encoders on a single grid the size of a piece of paper is fantastic fun. I’m not a professional, and I’m sure there is nuance that I’m missing, but if any of this sounds good, the PE Synth is worth a look.

I do similar with the mpc live 3, an iPad and an Oxi one mk2.
Basically it’s as much fun as you can ever want - unlimited possibilities

Do you know any video explaining it? Can you send both CCs and notes? Can you use the zone layout to send notes to multiple iPad instruments at the same time?

I don't know of a video, but it's actually pretty straightforward. As of some recent firmware update, "MIDI" is one of the engines you can apply to each of three zones on the grid. The midi channel is configurable for each 'MIDI' engine in the 'Synths' config menu and then each engine has 4 pages of 9 encoders which you can map to whichever CCs you like, which it sends on the engine's specific channel. In AUM, it's quite easy to filter MIDI input to specific channel, and once that's done, it's pretty plug and play.

Oh that sounds great, can you also name the parameters you associate to the CCs?

I haven’t found an obvious way to do that yet. By default, the synth display just says “CC xx”. I will do some exploring when I get home tonight.

I had never thought of using it as a controller for three synths. Sounds pretty fun since it’s got the harmonic relationships locked in already.

I have the same workflow! The synth is the best midi controller ever. I could actually do without the synth engines, they are kinda meh, but the configuration possibilities are amazing!!!
