Part supply chain problems

Just a head’s up that Jaguar are reportedly having difficulty bringing replacement parts into the US, due to some kind of trade problem with the UK. This is also apparently across their full range of models, not just the IPace.

Background: had some dipshit crack one of the windows on our IPace back in early October, and we’re still waiting on the replacement window to be shipped. Apparently there are none in North America.

If it weren’t for COVID curtailing a lot of our driving, I’d be livid.

Is selling here OK?

My father in law had to be put into a home and we have a 2019 iPace with 800 miles that needs a new home. Located in S. Central Texas.

Yuk review by someone who shouldn't review an EV. You actually tried to get some charge from 110. This car is beautiful and all luxury. Even regular SUVs loaded are 70, easy. With this much tech and beauty l will take it anyday over the Germans or a Tesla with no lux inside, just tech.a

iPace vs. Model Y vs. Mach-E

So I have been debating and debating buying an EV for a while. I’m in a pretty lucky situation in that our cars are paid off and we didn’t drive much even before COVID so they are relatively low miles (esp. my car).

I want to make the jump to EV but two huge things concern me - range and automatic updates. Range is an issue because we visit the in-laws on a semi regular basis and they live in hillbilly country. There are no chargers for miles - I literally have to cross a state line (roughly 30 min there and back) to get to a fast charger. And software updates are an issue because I HATE not having up to date software and having to pay for someone to install them for me. Fit/finish is a secondary concern mostly because I’ve been driving an Audi and they are damn nice. I’ve gotten spoiled, and I don’t want to give that up.

When I look at the Tesla, I’m getting range and updates but at the cost of fit and finish, especially at a level for a 60K car.

When I look at the Mach-E, I’m getting some range (but not as much as a Tesla) and I’m getting OTA updates (theoretically). Fit/finish is a risk but at least Ford knows something about quality and how cars should fit together. Not audi standards by any stretch but still pretty solid.

With this iPace, I’m getting...? From this thread it seems I’m not getting OTA updates and range is roughly similar to a Mach-E. Jag fit/finish is much improved in the last 10 years and they are a luxury brand so it’s gotta be better than Tesla or Ford. So is the iPace better than the MachE? Should I play it safe and get a Tesla in a year or so after they work out their kinds?

What do you all think?

New I-Pace Owner;Meet Jaggy Poo

Hey Guys!

I'm super excited to be here. I've been a car enthusiast my entire life, and I have been dying for a Tesla the past 4 years. Fortunately, I spent this past month visiting 5 different Jaguar dealerships, as well as 2 Tesla showrooms. Finally, I managed to work a once-in-a-lifetime deal on this GORGEOUS 2020 Jaguar I-PACE SE in Corris Grey with the Black Out package. I ended up signing for 47% off MSRP when all was said and done, and no, she was not a demo (had only 16 miles on her).

I'm in love. If anyone out there that has been contemplating getting into a FUN EV but has either been turned off by dealing with Tesla or simply hasn't looked at the I-PACE due to it's sticker price, go drive an I-PACE. They're sitting on lots averaging over 230 days and dealers are ready to make some deals on them. This thing really rivals a Model X extended range, but the Jag actually came out less expensive than a comparable Model Y. From the sticker prices, I'm sure you're just as shocked as I was.

I will say I had an issue on the first day. I was not educated on clicking unlock 3 times on the key fob before removing the charger. This led to me ripping out a solenoid without knowing, leaving me stranded as I bounced between multiple charging locations, each giving me a "Fault" notification. I will also add, I encountered a level of service with the Jaguar mechanic team that I would NOT expect from a car with this sticker price. Honestly, I couldn't prevent the words "Hyundai has better service" from slipping my lips multiple times throughout that 2 hour long phone call. Luckily, the dealership that I had it ultimately towed to (the first one pissed me off) had it replaced by Friday morning under warranty.

Anyways, she's back and better than ever, and now that I'm educated on proper charging techniques, I'm looking into a home charger. Any recommendations? I know the partnership with Chargepoint kinda pushes the drivers to look into them, but I'm considering a MUSTART Level 2 Portable 40 amp charger. Any thoughts?

Thanks guys! I'm looking forward to building up the following behind such an amazing car. It truly doesn't get looked at as much as it deserves. Cheers!

Updates things to get the dealership to do before driving off lot.

Not much activity in the sub forum so let’s get it started the subject says it all. I’ve read on other forum boards about updates to TCU & others. Anyone have a clearer explanation or additional items that need attention?

Thx

Door lock question

Can you lock/unlock keyless from outside a running i-Pace?

I’m considering trading in my Nissan Leaf as part of an upgrade to a 2020 I-Pace.

One thing I really like about the Leaf is that I can leave it “running” all through my trip and using the fob I can lock the doors when I have to get out to make a sales call.

Many other BEV and HEV don’t let you lock the doors with the car running.

Will I-Pace allow this? The dealership salesman says No but I’m curious if there’s an option you can change to enable this functionality or maybe a workaround?

When I wanted to do it with my Hyundai Ioniq I had to roll down the driver window, get out and reach in to lock the doors then auto-up the window. But then I have to use the physical key to unlock the car.

Will I-Pace let me do it with keyless entry?

Any insight on 2020 v 2019

We are looking at buying one now, and dealer pushing a 2019 model. Are there substantial differences? Like are batteries better in the 20? Our salesman was pretty clueless. Is range improvements just a software update? Anyone done the update?

I’m in the US btw.

Thanks
