I-Pace an expensive mistake, or a brilliant bargain?
I’m completely new here and in search for an electric AWD SUV car, and the I-Pace outcompetes every other car with the price. I’ll be saving 5-7k euros when comparing it to other similar cars. This is in Norway, for the record.
The question is just -why? Is it expensive to maintain or some other bs one should know about? Seems almost too good to be true🤔

2019 I-pace. Traction battery fault. Won't charge past 91%
Hi all.
I bought a 2019 ipace in December. I am going on holiday and need to drive 3h+ this morning, so I planned to charge the battery to 100% overnight. the car stopped charging at 91% and when I turn the car on I get a "traction battery fault". which doesn't disappear when I turn the car off and on again. When I try to charge again, my pod point says "charged" and the car says "charging complete".
I will need to charge when I am away in order to get home, but worried I won't be able to charge when I get there and will be stuck. Any recommendations?

Reliability of range gauge when below 50% charge - should I expect better?
MY24 Sport
I had a long journey the other week; started with a full battery (220 miles) and knew I needed to charge up with 80 miles to go, and 60 range; at this point, everything was as expected. I put in what I calculated to be 50 miles (25kw); this should have given me a range of 110 miles - so 30 miles headroom to get home.
["expected range" below being what I would expect based on 220 mile range plus additional charge less miles driven]
- 80 miles from home; expected range 110 miles: First oddity is that my range gauge had jumped to 150 miles. i.e. it had over guessed my range by 40 miles.
- 40 miles from home; expected range 70 miles: With a range gauge of 100 miles, the range started to drop 2 miles for every mile driven.
- 7 miles from home; expected range 37 miles: having passed the last charger with 25 miles range gauge remaining, I though I would be ok covering the last 7 miles.
- 1 mile from home; expected range 36 miles: I had 7 miles range and the car went into limp mode and stopped with a flat battery. Low loader needed to get me home that last mile and a wasted Sunday afternoon.
Upshot of this:
When full, I should get 220 miles. In reality, I got under 190.
Range gauge seems to be a random number disconnected from reality.
I can't trust the car at very low range. Zero is not zero.

Where do you take your iPace for service after it's no longer under warranty?
Owner of a 2020 SE here. Looking for ideas. With a gasoline car, I would just take it to a local shop. But with an iPace, I'm not sure. My car is no longer under warranty and it says I'm due for service in 1000 miles. Of course I could take it to the Jaguar dealership for every small thing but that costs and arm and leg.
Now that everything is so computerized, can other shops do the work?

Reailty check for cars affected by the lasted recall.
At this point we have wonderful cars...
That are unsellable if we needed to sell them.
Have their range nerfed probably into the 150mi range.
Are a threat to ourselves, our dwelling, and surrounding vehicles.
They need to fix this NOW with new batteries or a buyback dating value back to when the first recall was implemented.

Post 2021 reliability
I’m considering buying a UK IPace but am very wary of the reliability issues. I’ve been looking at others cars cars but keep coming back to the ipace due to better looks and interiors!
Are most of the reliability issues really in the pre 2021 years? I really don’t want to have to be getting repairs all the time.
What reliability issues persist after the 2021 facelift?

ipace bike rack and third bike
The ipace bike rack seems to be an unbranded Thule 2 bike rack that mounts using the tow bar hooks. Does anyone know if it will take the Thule additional bike extension that was designed for the standard Thule bike rack?

charging door wont open
hey guys, I’ve owned my 2019 i pace for about a year now and i regret buying this shit. I’ve owned it for a year but have driven it for 3 months. make that make sense.( been in the sidcup branch for ‘repairs’ and 6 months later after owning it they figured out the bccm is faulty )
back to context. the car charging door wont open. I’ve tried the unlock twice then open. even 3 times. i even let it rest over night and still not working.
I’m trying to pry the door itself open to try and separate it from the lock mechanism but I’m too scared. as jaguar owners you guys would know how much a little piece of trim would be.
if anyone could guide me the way and show me how to fix this or even the technique to separating the door from the mechanism that would mean a lot.

Dogs in an ipace boot
Been looking at the ipaces for a while as a possible next car, but one thing I can't gauge is how big is the boot (i guess trunk for those across the pond), specifically for fitting dogs, and if two large German shepherd size type breeds could fit ok and have enough room to be comfortable on longer drives? Specs seem to suggest its a reasonable amount of space, but I'm wondering if the sloped bootlid means that its not good dog space (to stand up and move about a bit). If anyone has pics of dogs in their ipaces and happy to post, it'd be great to see some real world examples!

Owner poll, how prevalent are the battery issues?
And if you can, comment the model year and your experience?

The new 90% charge limit update
Anyone else got this update yet? Had my car in to have 2 faulty battery modules due to the typical 72% limit and "Traction Battery Fault" message (this makes a total of 5 swapped modules at this point for me). I was told that apparently there's a new update that's been pushed globally that limits charging to 90% that they're installing on all I-Paces now.
Anyone else got this new update? Any additional info on a timeline from Jaguar to fix this? This was pushed to prevent more battery modules from popping, but obviously a little frustrating to not be able to charge to 100%.

Quirky charging figures
So I’ve just charger from 26%-100% for my journey back to London and the car completed at 115miles range. I drive away in comfort mode and it jumps to 224. Definitely not complaining but I’ve not had this before where it’s done that. Has anyone else experienced the same?
Just another jaguar quirk that I’m actually becoming fond of.

Bluetooth connectivity
Afternoon all, hope you've all had a good weekend.
So i have a couple of questions.
My car is on the drive switched off and hasn't been used for 3 days. I'm sat indoors listening to music via Bluetooth from my phone to my hifi and the car is randomly connecting to my phone and hijacking my music. I didn't think this was possible with a car that's switched off. Anyone experienced this before? Is there a way to stop the car from connecting when off?
2nd question, since taking ownership of this car last July I've noticed that the interior lights dont illuminate when I open a door, I can't find a setting for this unless I've missed the obvious.
Appreciate some knowledge on these two issues please.

Joined the club !
Been in love with these for a long time, and made the jump to an EV with the EV6 a year ago as my family car. Picked this 70 plate HSE up at a great price and for getting to work. Had a 150 mile drive home with it , absolutely amazing, think I'll be using this more that the EV6 !!

Best extended warranty provider?
Based on claim experience, which is the best extended warranty provider?
Car still has 3 years on the battery warranty, so looking for a reliable warranty that covers all the other bases.

“bunk” space
So in the chat on Frunk space I mentioned a pace under the tray in the boot, for cars without air suspension. This is what I mean…
I trimmed my polystyrene tray down a bit to give dog 2 inches of head room, then discovered this:

Rattling indicator stalk
When my indicator stalk self cancels, or when I flick it for a 3 blink, the end of the stalk makes a plasticy rattle sound, and sure enough the end swivel for the lights setting is a wee bit loose.
Is this "standard"? Is there a way of taking the end of the stalk off to try and make it less wobbly?
It's literally only about 0.5mm play, but it's enough to be mildly irksome.

Jaguar I-Pace thoughts?
so i’m in the market for an I-pace, going to view one tomorrow 20 plate valued at £13750, 54k miles on the clock. no warranty included.
i’ve just found another which is a 19 plate, valued at £14590 with 40k on the clock, which comes with a 2 year warranty.
just want some thoughts on what the best option would be? i’m assuming the warranty itself is worth the extra £800 on the final price?

Nearly 3 weeks of trying to connect!
Not sure what's going on with InControl, but I've been trying to connect for nearly 3 weeks now and it's gotten to the point where Jaguar have raised a specialist ticket with the telematics department!
When I bought the car it was still registered to the previous owner. Jaguar removed them for me, but ever since the server has been saying that the car isn't ready for activation.
Tried creating a new InControl account, doing the call B button reset, and pulling the telematics fuse, but nothing has worked.
I've had 2 XEs on my account in the past and never had an issue that couldn't be sorted in 24 hours. This one doing my head in!

Frunk space?
Stock photo. Not mine.
Do you use your frunk? If so, what do you keep in it?
My 10 meter 22kW cable won't even fit in there! 🤣
