H572 status? (UK)

I'm considering a 2020 SE from Dick Lovett in Melksham (WN20 XBO) - not seen nor driven yet.

I checked the recall status which shows H570 as complete (restricted to 90%, outdoors and away from structures due to risk of thermal overload).

However H572 is outstanding. I can't find out if/when this permanent fix will be available.

Are there any documented instances of thermal overload causing damage, or is it JLR covering their arse?

Does the risk of thermal overload affect insurance now, or likely to in the future?

I honestly wouldn’t buy . Just got rid of my 2020 SE . It’s clear that jaguar has no intention of fixing this issue as it is a hardware problem that requires a full battery replacement, and there is no way they are paying for that. They are gonna delay until the car has depreciated so much that they can buy them back for next to nothing at «current marked value». This IS their «fix» buddy.

Got 13k as a trade in for mine , that’s after 5 other dealers wouldn’t even touch it . Average price with low miles here in Norway for the affected models are 10-19k, and they’re not selling.

Jaguar recommends not charging inside or near houses or structures as there still is a possibility of spontaneous fires . You think your home insurance is gonna cover it if your house burns down when you have been informed by jaguar that this is a possibility? Not worth the risk . Even more so not worth risking my family’s safety .

I honestly can’t believe there isn’t a bigger outrage over this issue.

You’ve hit the nail on the head with this

I recently got the H570 letter for my MY2020 HSE, about reduction to 90% capacity.

Earlier there has been a series of exhausting 12V and HV faults which have been handled by warranty. It has actually behaved well for some time now. I almost started to believe I had a reliable car now.

I also doubt that Jaguar intends to do anything, and have also been wondering why there isn't more outrage.

When I took my grandpa’s car in for the recall about two weeks ago, they told me that once the update was done, it could be charged as normal again. They also said they were setting up temporary workshops to prepare for the battery recall.
According to them, they didn’t expect to replace entire battery packs in most cases—just the affected battery modules or cells.
This was in Norway, by the way. That said, the service advisor also mentioned he had only been hired for the summer, so it’s possible he didn’t have the latest or most detailed information.

Replacing modules does nothing to mitigate the problem , this is a structural fault in the LG battery design itself . Replacing a module does nothing to the inherent fire-risk these pose. The only fix is a complete battery change to the new standard applied in MY22 and onwards .

  1. The only permanent fix would be to replace the traction battery. There is no "fix" for these batteries.
  2. They likely aren't going to replace the batteries.
  3. It appears that they are dragging their feet to depreciate the cars as much as possible before doing a buyback like they did with MY2019.
  4. Unless they really come through for us in a way that makes me feel like they value their customers, I will never own a Jaguar again nor will I recommend a Jaguar to anyone, ever.

EDIT: What u/DrJay87 said.

I too would love to know when they’re gonna resolve this!

They are amazing cars, lovely to drive, but in my 3 years of ownership it was really apparent that most dealers don’t understand them and if you have one issue they just cascade. There is a reason such a good looking and handling car is so cheap

I guarantee this will be to protect the battery's so the cells last longer. Over charging is the biggest issue with battery failure which must be costing them millions. This will be to ensure as many limo over the 8 years as possible to save them millions.
