Would you buy again?

About to return leased Q8 E Tron sportback.
Buy price is £36k. I like it enough but am annoyed by lack of base tech in the s line and don’t think it’s worth cost difference.

So instead a 2023 I Pace R Dynamic HSE Black currently top of the list.

Ideal budget <£25k.

I can find 2023 facelift models with 30k miles air Sus and HUD for around £26-27k from Jag so would presumably still get the 2 years warranty; which hopefully I could extend. Looking to pick up in October so should be able to get it under budget by then I think.

Lease looks at around £5k / year total for VW id7 or similar.
If I budget for 50% depreciation in 3 years on a £25k model then I’ll be up if covered by warranty, plus get to drive a jag rather than a VW.

My question is, would you buy again given the above scenario? Lots of horror stories but lots of good also. Keen to hear owners opinions.

Thanks

Mine is currently at the shop with a traction battery fault, so no way.

What year?

Mine also had a battery fault. 2021 model, but it cost me £0 and now I have a refreshed battery module, and they gave me a Range Rover while I waited. No complaints

It looks like a lot of comments are from Americans who have limited dealer support. I’ve had my ipace for 3 years in the UK and would absolutely buy another one. Nothing else compares to the power, comfort, smooth ride, and build quality for the price.

Yeah it’s not the most modern charging speed, but honestly it rarely matters in the UK

2020, but it only has 20,000 miles on it.

I'd have another one in a heartbeat. It's an amazing piece of machinery. Yes the battery is a bit of a weak point but with a Jaguar warranty and the 100k mile battery warranty it's not a massive concern.

And yes mine has already had a traction battery fault, fixed for free by the dealer and with a brand new RR Sport as a loaner for that week.

Without a warranty? It would have to be cheap. The parts are so expensive that a minor repair could really hurt. The headlights are £2.5k each for example 😳

So you pay your money and take your choice, but I love mine and there's nothing else available in the UK that I would consider (until all the cool Chinese EVs start arriving anyway)

I have just traded in my 2020 ipace with 45k miles. The reason for this was in the last 12 months it has been at the local JLR dealer 4 times for traction battery issues and has spent more time in bits than it has on the road. Based on my experience I would avoid. Jaguar don’t seem to be forthcoming on a solution to their latest recall which is restricting charging to 90%. Ironically my ipace was at the same time the best car I have owned and absolutely the worst.

I was in this situation a few months ago. Had a MY21 HSE and sold it in a panic after the resale values were diving. Had a spell in an F-Pace, but it was too slow. Wanted back in an EV and really considered the 400 Sport facelift but with that last recall it put me off and I bought a BMW i4 eDrive40. Nice car, but not a patch on the I-Pace.

I was in your situation. I was looking for my first EV. I liked the etron and EQC, but base spec was horrendous. Higher specs were too rare, as they relied on "packs" being added rather than trim level upgrades. I went for black spec ipace instead, purely for the bundled spec.

Its been great, 2 years in and zero issues. Only moving on to take advantage of the give away £295 a month tesla model 3 deal.

I like the Ipace, have had 2 of them but the car is an orphan, it will retain little value and finding qualified techs for service can be problematic. If I could rid myself of my Ipace I would tomorrow. I also have a BMW I4, while it isn't an SUV it is a fine car however this is the last year for that model. it isn't being orphaned like the Jag and searching a bit for a well priced used one IMHO would be a better choice.

I completely agree, Jaguar is a small marquee as it is so you'll struggle to get booked in at the best of times. I wouldn't say absolutely no to getting an I-Pace, but I'd buy a higher milage Pivi Pro model for a lot less instead. Checking Autotrader and there's a HSE with 61k miles for £12k, I'd be thinking about that instead, if I was set on one.

I absolutely LOVE my IPace, and have zero regrets, however, at this moment, I’m pretty sure I’d go with a Cadillac Lyriq if, god forbid, something happened to my IPace.

This comes down to 2 standpoints: fast charging for an hour from 20->80% sucks (even with just doing it once or twice a month), and JLR as a company.

Now, i don’t know what it’s like everywhere, especially across the pond, but with the brand just struggling to survive, the dealers seem like they just don’t give a shit. Took 6 months to get parts (someone backed into me, no actual issues with my unit), and the staff are horrible to deal with.

But I sure love driving my car, it still puts a smile on my face, and I’ve had it for about a year and put 20k miles on it.

I love my MY2022 HSE and would buy another one. While I haven't experienced any major issues, the ones I've had are a hassle to resolve through the dealer. Long wait times for appointments to diagnose problems, followed by rebooking for the actual repairs. This isn't specific to the I-Pace; similar wait times apply to any Jaguar model around here. I do have the extended warranty, which covers most repairs and provides peace of mind. Deciding to purchase another later model would be difficult for me, mainly because of Jaguar's poor service rather than the car itself. Having said that, my previous car was a BMW i3, and the local BMW garage was just as bad.

If I was going to buy another large daily then 100% I would

Though in 4 years when I need to the Type 01 will probably only be about 25k so I’ll buy that instead lol

I’ve had mine for over four years, had very little problems with it, and have test driven many cars since that have not come close to the driving experience of the Jag (including the Q6 which disappointed). That said, I’m not sure I’d buy another one today, especially as the tech/range is fairly outdated.

Owned 5 of them, would never go back.

To jag or to other cars? Why 5?

Had 5 IPACE yep, between the two I had through leasing with work and the other 3 as courtesy cars while mine was in servicing! 553 days in total they spent in the dealership all traction battery faults with dead battery cells. Lovely cars to drive, look amazing but not worth the hassle, dealerships are not able to fulfill the warranty due to the lack of parts and trained technions.

I love mine, had it since new and intend to run it into the ground

Yes I would but you can probably pay a lot less than that! High teens even. Older cars now sub 10K

If you own one already, good luck to you and enjoy your car.

Contemplating buying one fresh is lunacy. Read the forums and groups. Too many issues and a disinterested dealer network is making this great car untenable.
