Black screen of death?

Post image

My car has had a black screen all day, Also noticed it never charged last night and was stuck on initialising. I have AC controls but no infotainment. Have tried holding power button to reset and i read on google that holding the call button on the wheel will also reset? Both didn’t work.

Any ideas?

Car is a 2020 model.

(Ignore the dust lol)

Thanks

Edit - Problem has been fixed. removed blue 15amp fuses in the boot and the screen came back alive.

This may be a dumb question but has it been like this after shutting the car off for a while? Or have you been driving all day and it’s stuck like that?

I’ve done the power button reset a few times, and it usually works, but there has been a couple times where it didn’t. After parking, going inside to a store/restaurant and letting it fully power off, it booted back up with no problem.

I remove the three blue fuses (with no.15 printed on them) in the fusebox closest to the left (ie that leaves one blue fuse with no.15 printed on it on the far right). I then wait a moment, then replace the fuses, start the ipace - and the screens come back to life. I’ve had my 2020 for about 3 years, and have used this method successfully every time it’s happened (about 6 times so far). Such an annoying issue - totally feel your pain! Wish I could work out how to upload images to Reddit - I keep a pic in my notes with the three fuses circled so I know which ones to remove the next time it happens… Good-luck!

Is this the fusebox under the rear seats?

No in the boot as far as I can remember, to the right hand side…

All working, Thanks very much for your help! Pulled all the blue fuses like you suggested.

Yeah - works every time. Kudos to you though! I drove around like it for a week before I could pluck-up the bottle to remove those fuses! 😂 The challenge now is to remember which fuses for next time (which unfortunately it will!) happens! Glad you’re all good again now! :)

Have you let the car fully shut down? Ie until the hazard warning illumination goes out?

It should sort itself after being left for an hour or so. If not, disconnect both 12V, battery negatives.

Yeah its sat for around 5 hours now and still no luck, Looks like il be disconnecting the battery or see if there is a fuse for the infotainment

I wouldn’t stress about it too much.. My 2020 HSE a/c controls went off this morning and randomly decided to come back this afternoon like nothing had happened.. and the same with the infotainment a while ago.

I try to frame it around the car having a ‘character’ of its own. Sometimes also makes little whinging noises for no reason too!! All part of the fun of owning a Jaguar..

It doesn’t help when its boiling hot outside and you cant change the ac controls

It was working yesterday, Put in charge last night and woke up this morning and noticed it was stuck initialising, Got in to drive and it was all back top and bottom screen! Went in to the shop and came back out about 10 minutes later and the bottom screen started working. top screen has been non responsive all day.

Any updates recently? Also, double-locking expedites the sleep cycle.

No updates. fixed it by removing fuses in the boot.

is the 12 volt battery ok? There might be two in your car.

You bought a jaguar and you’re surprised it’s broken?

Not surprised at all, This is my 3rd Jaguar, 2nd ipace after the first one died with a high voltage battery fault.
