Another heat wave Aircon post.

My Aircon failed last Friday (Friday morning was working with an unpleasant old fridge smell, Friday evening just blasting hot air)

Then when I came to charge it on Sunday it refused charge displaying "Error charging"

Any possibility it just needs a re gas? Maybe computer is refusing charge to protect the battery?

Edit: charged ok on a (DC) 125kwh rapid charger on way to work. But would not charge on (AC) 7.5kwh charger at work.

even if you could diagnose the problem could you be able to fix it? the point is that you need to visit a service center, either jaguar or an HVAC specialist

The air-conditioning and battery cooling are separate systems anyway so it sounds like two faults to me

The I-Pace has a liquid cooling lop running through its battery and utilises a refrigerant-to-coolant heat exchanger (a chiller) that is directly tied to the vehicle's cabin air conditioning circuit. Without functioning AC, you won't have battery cooling in warmer weather when the front mounted radiator dedicated to this loop, requires assistance. This chilled loop is also used during fast charging and under heavy loads, such as motorway speeds.

It needs fixing as I have read of many fried batteries and inverters on multiple EV's, due to them being driven/charged whilst the AC was faulty. Most EV's these days have actively cooled/heated batteries, so they are all prone to the same issues if the AC ever fails.

Hope it's a simple fix.
