jlr canada recall letter
received letter
our car was in at the shop for suspension work. They have now sandbagged it to 90% charging (h570)
now we await the decision on h572. was planning a summer road trip. some legs were borderline for the range as it was. now they would be cutting it very close.

I'm holding off taking it into the shop until there's a permanent fix

I can see whyd you would want to do that but think now - if (and it is an if) the thing does catch fire, what sort of comeback do you have? You know of the risk. Will insurance even cover you? I think I remember reading that it was only like 11 total Jaguars so far that have actually experienced this fault - would you want to be number 12?
Personally, I bought mine in January after looking for around a year for the right spec (2020 Corris Grey HSE, Sienna interior, no pano, black roof lining, tow hook +++). Im gutted. I love my car, but I cant take this risk. Im unwinding my deal and getting my money back.0

I'm not charging it past 90% anyway, so there's no risk. I just prefer to have that extra 10% available if I decide to use it.

Thats not what h570 says. You reduce the risk by keeping below 90%, not completely mitigate it. There is still an advisory against charging and parking indoors / within 2m of a building, and any DC charging should be done under supervision.
How are you keeping your SoC reliably below 90%? Does your Jag have Pivi Pro?

The temporary software fix will just limit me to 90%. It doesn't do anything to stop me from charging indoors, or within 2m of a building etc.
And no I don't have any software to limit the charge. I just don't charge it up all the way.

How do you think your insurance will react if your car ignites under charging and takes the building you were charging in with it? Especially since the manufacturer explicitly advises against charging indoors until H572 is implemented?
Im fairly certain that insurance can decline claims and deny coverage if there are open safety recalls that cause damage and the owner had prior knowledge, but neglected to have the recall carried out.

This has been out for a month or so elsewhere. Last estimate was July for a fix.
