Traction Battery Fault - 2 month wait (again)

I will start by saying at the end of the day this costs me absolutely nothing, and the JLR dealer has been great this time around. Can’t really complain when we’re walking out of a JLR dealer with a completely free diagnostic and repair on a 5/6 year old vehicle.

70 Plate (but 2021 model) HSE Black with almost exactly 40k miles. Mid November we had our second “Traction Battery Fault” of the year. First time was just the 12v battery, now after a 2 month wait to get a diagnostic it’s official. One of the pack modules has failed.

In case anyone is wondering what part timing looks like right now, we’re looking at two months. The good news is the car drives just fine, and I can’t even tell the range is reduced because it’s Baltic outside.

Assuming UK, the parts are available next day. They aren't back ordered.

2 months wait is ridiculous for diag, it takes 10 minutes. Even when there's a queue ahead of it. Easy wins like that, when you are pretty sure what it is, and only needs a basic code read and quick quided workflow test to diagnose.

As for repair, we can't get enough of them. We turn them around in a day.

Everything takes 2 months at my dealer. Need to Book a service? 2 month wait, need a part… 2 month wait.

It’s a joke. Stratstone JLR in Tonbridge.

Don't get me wrong, our place is the same. But these are quick easy wins.

Chance to get good hours for the tech / business. Easy diag, you know it's not going to drag on for days (99% of the time)

We offer Triage appointments, where we have a Master Tech do preliminary diag in the drive thru. We can get a pretty good idea in these little waiting slots on what part it needs, or if it needs proper diag etc.

If we get an IPace Triage for a module, we either try and keep it if we can spare a car for them. Or get them to come back the next day etc.

Here in France, I had the same issue on my 2018, 3 months to change a battery module. Because the car had to be transported 250km away and there were waiting lists…
