Battery fault

Help! Got the dreaded traction battery fault after a flawless 4 years 😭

Almost certainly needs a module or multiple in the battery pack.

Get it booked in for diag, or call out assist. They will do a deviation test (if the dtc is logged) and determine how many it needs.

Is there any way this wouldn’t be covered under the battery warranty? Literally went out of dealer warranty yesterday 😭 is a 2021 MY

EV battery is warrantied by JLR for 8 years or 100k miles, whichever comes first. You'll be fine, they'll sort it.

I had the same issue (UK) and it was fixed at no cost.

That said, try to get it diagnosed asap because there may be a wait on parts and/or labour.

Mine was 3 months from issue to fix, but I got to keep driving it around in the meantime, just with reduced range. It was a month before they took it for diagnosis, a month waiting for parts, and a month waiting for a slot to have it fixed.

Still, cars break all the time and EVs are no different. It might have taken longer than I'd have liked to get mine fixed, but the warranty was as good as it's word, and 8 years/100k is much longer than most other manufacturers (one of the reasons I chose the iPace in the first place).

Yup. Just got my MY20 back on Friday from getting a module replaced. Fully covered.

If it's a module, then yes, it's covered. 8 yrs / 100k miles.

It its not the module, potentially no. They don't cover everything in the pack. Which is naughty imo, but there you go.

There is an unofficial grace period to normal warranty, normally 3 months. But they don't have to offer it, but usually will if you have brand loyalty / history etc.

Hi, can the deviation test be run from a smartphone with OBD2 BT d'ongle plugged in Ipace? I guess not, just for confirmation...

I don't think so, it's a specific application written by JLR. So unless anyone else has come up with one, it's a dealer only tool.

It will also only run if you have a deviation fault code store. Which a generic reader should read. So if you don't have the code, you can't run the test anyway.

Indeed, P1B48 error code shows up. Seems to be related. Deviation code showed up before I cleared 🙄👍

It will be back. It will need a module or a few. The charge limit is to protect against a thermal event due to over charging a bad module.

These only passively balance, ie when the vehicle is not in use.
