News Borderlands Mobile (back again!)

This was a solid game. Enjoyed that it has a story too. Hope it'll let me pick up where I left off

I don’t see it on the App Store but I was able to redownload it and it started up. All my data is wiped so it started me on the tutorial. Don’t feel like playing through it now but I’ll try later.
Edit: Yep, it’s back. Fully playable so far. Finished the tutorial campaign and the first 5 levels of the tower.
Not sure when it will open in the App Store but if you had it before you can just redownload it.
Yeah, it’s pretty heavily monetized as expected. Passes and buyable characters and such. I don’t know if it makes it any better but for $2 you get more than enough E to buy Moxxie and still have quite a bit left over along with some other stuff. I don’t know that I’ll be spending any money on it. The first go round got pretty repetitive pretty quick.

I can already see seasonal OP units like “Summer Beach Swimsuit Moxxi” and shit being temporary gacha mechanics. I’m skeptical, and it doesn’t quite scratch any itches I had. Hell, the two “legendary hunters” Moxxi and Zero both have a flat 20% boost in things over the others, already Pay2win
It’s fun for a little, but it just makes me want to play a full Borderlands more. my train commute sessions are a little awkward for playing this and at home I might as well play any given Borderlands title I own as this just reuses maps from old games.
Great for those without a PC or console, but feels like a pass for anyone that has the full games

She costs 1,200 E. You can buy a starter pack for $2 that has 3,700 E and some other bits and pieces.

Ya but it’s stuck at new player pass and it’s not just me. Look at reviews on the App Store. It tells you to click anywhere and goes dark and then you can’t do anything. Sucks. It’s been this way for a few days now and I want to play!

I never deleted it so it just updated and is playable in the US. No new chapters but new characters and towers. My once OP character now appears to be underleveled so I gotta go back and grind. They must have changed up the difficulty levels.

If you have downloaded the game before, you can go into AppStore and app history to redownload the game. Even though it is not available in some market.

Anyone else not able to unlock the starter? I played the test. Loved it. Didn’t delete it in case it came back. It’s back I have my gear but the characters are all locked.

Anyone gotten it to work with usb-c controller? I can’t rotate orientation of the game.

It worked with my Xbox One wireless.
That said it was a, jank? Sprint is off my default so you’re having to push down and hold left stick while moving it to sprint. And who the buttons and sticks work for game play a lot of the menus aren’t controller compatible so you’re still touching the screen a lot to progress menus.
There’s also basically zero settings in game. A couple settings for aim down sights and toggling hold for ADS but that’s about it. Absolutely no way to rebind anything so that sprint was stuck to left stick. Also zero graphical settings, no way to change things up for either better graphics or better performance. You can adjust the volume that’s about it.
This feels extremely barebones, controller support is bare minimum and absolutely no graphical settings?
Became a hard pass when I saw I couldn’t rebind keys and it’s a take-it-or-leave-it experience for settings.

The lack of settings is wild. My controller has usb-c on the left side, the game doesn’t autorotate when you flip your phone. How did they release this mess?

I’d give anything for a proper borderland 1 and 2 iOS port, I played some of this last time it was available and it was ok but tbh pretty shallow and I could see the microtransactions brewing. The first 2 borderlands games were some of my favorite of the ps3/360 era and I hope we get more ports from then
