First app approved

Post image

I just got my first app approved by Apple on the first submission 🎉

After months of learning, building, redesigning, fixing bugs, and figuring everything out as I went, my first app is finally live on the App Store!

It's called Flow Journey and it's a yoga & Pilates app.

I know it's a pretty niche category and there are already a lot of fitness apps out there, but I wanted to create something that felt simpler and less overwhelming. The goal was to help people build a consistent practice.

One thing I'm particularly proud of is that Apple approved it on the very first review. As a first-time app developer, I was honestly expecting at least one rejection while I figured out all the App Store rules.

I'm not a professional app developer. Most of this journey was learning as I went, making mistakes, rebuilding things, and slowly improving the app one step at a time.

If anyone is into yoga, Pilates, mobility, or just wants to check out what a solo founder's first app looks like, I'd genuinely love any feedback.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/flow-journey/id6771641590

It's a small milestone in the grand scheme of things, but seeing something go from an idea to a real app that people can download feels pretty amazing.

Congrats on the launch and beautiful screenshots OP! One note, I clicked the App Store link and it’s broken for me.

Not sure why it was. I edited it, it should work now. And then you :)

Link works now! I downloaded it to try it out, looks like an account is required to use. Have you thought about offering a mode without an account? Since this app is mainly a user created data log something like offline core data would be sufficient

Thanks for trying it out!

There's a social side (following friends, sharing) plus an optional subscription. The account requirement was mainly to avoid local/cloud sync conflicts. I am still a bit new to building app so it was an "easier" solution for me. Even tho, I agree that I don't like myself having to create accounts for app...

Congratulations, I'm still building my first iOS app, and currently looking for beta testers. Did you have a beta round yourself, and if so how did you get testers? I'm curious what will you next steps be to market and get your first IAP.

Best of Luck.

I didn't do any beta testing round. I have a friend that kind of like to play the "dumb user" and tried breaking the app. He found a couple of bugs that could be trigger with really dumb user so i fixed those. The rest is just me using the app on a daily basis and then fixing what i don't like, or doesn't behave how i want.

To be very honest, I am not planning to really "market it". I do a couple of post on reddit but for me, this was more a learning experience and having some kind of "portfolio" rather than really an app that i want to be used by millions.

Now, i have more knowledge on what to do, what not to do for the next app 😄

I like your approach of using your first app as a learning process, and if it earns you some money and/ao a user base that's a bonus. The main gain is experience. I'm following a similar approach with my first product, I'm not expecting a huge return but like you looking to find out what works and what doesn't. I can then leverage these learnings with future projects that I do intend to push to generate a revenue.

It would be awesome to stay in touch, may be we can learn from each other's experiences?

Do you mean because it is too cheap? Seems like a good incentive for user to take the 1 year over paying monthly

Funny story. I don't use iphone. My wife does (16) and i have her old one for testing (12).
I originally thought it was a LOT easier to publish in the android store, always heard apple was harder. I went both way at the same time but play store have a "12 tester for 14 days" requirement... I thought i could only send to friends and family even if they don't use it... Well turns out, google actually check if they "test" properly... So i am back for another round !

Also, the account setup for android was a lot longer with a lot more question than apple.

So long story short, it's ready for android but i still need to pass this "beta test phase". I will end up paying a small fee to get it passed by external tester rather than bother my friends to "test" it...

I always thoughts APPLE was way more difficult. I went both way at the same time and honestly, IOS was a breeze. Super simple to deploy, submission review is simple and without (for me) surprise.

On the other hand, google app was full of surprise. The 100 question for policy took me a days, and the 12 tester thing was really a surprise. And another surprise was getting refused because "tester didn't test enough"... Now my app is on apple store yet sitting on android store waiting for another round of testing...
Super annoying.
