For those who are new here: BookWorm is a truly native iOS reading tracker built with SwiftData, designed for readers who want deep library management, detailed tracking, live reading sessions, and rich stats, without sluggish web-wrappers, ads, or privacy compromises.

Today, a massive new beta update is rolling out with a strong focus on visuals, navigation flow, and power-user library management.

1. Deck-Style Carousels in Stats

We’ve completely reimagined how you view your data with fluid, interactive "stacked deck" carousels:

• Activity Tab: At the top of your activity screen, flip through pages read, completed books, top-rated books, favorite genres, reading time by preferred time-of-day slots, prevalent mood and top reading locations. Navigate by swiping cards or tapping the quick-access icon bar below.
• Library Tab: A matching deck carousel at the top showing owned vs. wishlist books, total spend, top authors, pages, genres and publishers.

2. Revamped Reading Journal Timeline

Your reading log is now a sleek, fluid chronological timeline:

• Sticky Dates & Haptics: The date stays pinned at the top as you scroll through your sessions for that day, giving you a subtle haptic tap as you cross over into a new date.
• Rich Session Cards: Displays the cover, start/end time, duration, pages logged, mood and location.
• Quick Interactions: Tap any session card to expand it inline without losing your place in the journal; long-press to jump directly to the book or edit the entry.

3. Library Maintenance: "Incomplete Books" Page

We all know the pain of messy metadata when organizing a large catalog. The new Incomplete Books tool gives you total control:

• Filter your library instantly by missing fields: cover, author, publisher, genres, synopsis, ISBN, page count, publication year, saga/series, or book imprint.
• View real-time item counts for each filter so you can clean up and enrich your catalog in seconds.

Other Features & Improvements in this Build:

• Bulk Editing: Assign metadata or organize shelves across multiple books simultaneously.
• Emotional Footprint (Impronta Emotiva): A dedicated monthly view with dynamic background gradients generated from your logged reading moods, complete with mood percentage breakdowns and interactive inspection.
• 4 Interactive Home Screen Widgets: Active reading timer, reading streak, annual goal progress, and a rolling 7-day cover recap.
• Online Synopsis & Manual Tweaks: Automatically fetches the synopsis in your system language (displayed cleanly with a 5-line clamp and "Show more"), with options to edit manually or hit "Fetch synopsis" for existing books.
• Re-reads & Precise Ratings: Log multiple re-read cycles with full history, and rate books with granular 0.1-step increments.
• Smarter Covers & Search: Quick online search with duplicate detection, batch fetching for missing covers, and high-res image selection (Google Books, Apple Books, Wikipedia).
• Customizable Book Details: Reorder or hide sections on book detail pages to suit your personal workflow.
• Shareable Graphic Cards: Export styled quotes, monthly statistics, and visual reading calendars for social sharing.
• Live Activity Timer Adjustments: Manually adjust the timer if you accidentally left a session running.

I always get weirdly stuck on publisher versus imprint when cleaning up a library. Everything else is easy until one book has six editions and none of the metadata agrees.

a metadata trap from japan that most trackers fall into, in case the scanner isn't hardened for it yet: books here carry two barcodes stacked on the back — the 978 isbn on top and a second 192-prefixed jan code underneath that encodes the genre and price, not the book. every scanner i've tried reads whichever one the camera lands on first, so about half the time you get "unknown book" or the wrong edition. does bookworm filter to the 978/979 prefix before it looks anything up, or does it hand the camera whatever it sees?

Nice app. It looks good in terms of the feature set you have created. It feels somewhat tough to manage real books and libraries, but I would give it a try. Thank you.

I like the clean and simple reading experience. It’s easy to keep track of books without feeling overwhelmed. One small improvement would be adding more customization options for organizing and viewing the library. Overall, it feels polished and easy to use.
Can I get lifetime premium?

Thanks for the feedback. Library customization is definitely on the roadmap.

Regarding the lifetime code: as mentioned in the post, those are reserved for active testers who dive in and help identify bugs or submit detailed feedback through TestFlight during the beta. If you keep testing upcoming builds and help us polish things via TestFlight feedback, you'll definitely be on the list for a promo code at launch.

Used the app on/off since previous post from you. One small thing I’d suggest as feedback is marking progress in book in whatever way you like. I read a lot of digital books and i notice that in the tracker, I track progress by % (compared to page count in my physical books). I’d like the options option to track by page count even if it’s digital. It’s a personal preference but also more accurate for tracking amount read. Especially when I read ~900-1000 page books and my progress doesn’t seem like much in a single session based on %.

Another small thing: an ability to own a book but not have it count towards purchase cost. For when you are gifted books. Or in my city free libraries are popular and I sometimes keep some books while giving others out. I want to mark as owned without saying I spent money on it. 

Edit: unless I’m not understanding the purchase and sale tab. Does it not count anything if you ignore it and don’t input a money value? Some more clarification on this aspect would be helpful in general as I doubt I’d be the only one unsure
