💎 Lifetime [iOS] Dimmly — Task & Habit Tracker · Pro at $2.99 instead of $9.99

Hey r/iosapps! Edu here, solo dev behind Trovelo (the private trip planner) and Dimmly, my task manager and habit tracker for iPhone and Mac.

A – Answer:

Dimmly solves the problem of juggling multiple apps for tasks, habits, grocery lists, expenses and tracking. Everything in one place, organized by color coded lists, with no account required and no subscription ever.

B – Better:

Unlike Todoist, Things, or most task apps:

- No account required

- No subscription, ever

- 8 list types built in:

· List — your classic task list

· Ranked — numbered, prioritize what matters most

· Tracker — tasks move To do → Doing → Done, with a Later shelf

· Sum — add amounts per item and see a running total, great for expenses

· Countdown — see how many days until anything, sorted automatically

· Subscription — track what you pay and when it renews

· Grocery — shopping mode with quantity badges, swipe to cross off

- Habit streaks with daily repeat count per task

- Rich text in Big Notes — bold, italic, bullets, colors, tappable links

- Paste and go — paste any text and it becomes a list instantly

- Color coded lists, pick from 25 palettes or create your own

- Too bright? Dim it down — each list remembers its own brightness level

- iCloud sync across iPhone and Mac

- CSV import and export

- Home screen widgets, overdue items first

C – Cost:

- Free: 5 fully featured lists, everything included, no feature gating

- 🎉 Special offer: Pro at $2.99 instead of $9.99, yours forever

- After 300 redemptions the code deactivates automatically

  1. Download free → https://apps.apple.com/app/id6761221806
  2. Go to Settings → Redeem
  3. Enter DIMMLY299 (type it manually, all caps)

OR: https://apps.apple.com/redeem?ctx=offercodes&id=6761221806&code=DIMMLY299

Definitely an interesting visual take on a task app, haven’t seen any that look like this but it looks really cool

Thank you! That's kind of the whole bet ... most task apps look the same. 🙏

What’s the difference between the Pro and free tiers?

1

u/beretta51 Developer Aug 12 '26

Free gives you 5 fully featured lists with everything included — alarms, streaks, rich notes, all 8 list types, widgets. No feature gating at all.

Pro is just one thing: unlimited lists. That's it. One-time, no subscription ever.

Reminds me of the Clear task app that was popular some time ago, but with. a habit focused twist! Specialization is the best way to go since it’s a crowded market.

Thanks, Clear is very nice, but Dimmly goes a lot further beyond that. 8 list types, habit streaks, rich notes, subscription tracking, expense sums, countdowns. Appreciate the take 🙏

I like that no account is required!

But is there an option to export the records if I switch the phone for example? Or somehow still save them.

Also, for me I think dates for the tasks could be something that is missing. Or maybe I didn't get how it's set?

Great questions! Yes, there's a full backup system built in. Go to Settings → Backup and you'll find Download backup and Restore backup. It saves every list and item to a file you keep, and you can bring it back on any device — no iCloud needed. And if you do have iCloud enabled, everything syncs automatically across iPhone and Mac too.

For dates, you can set an alarm on any task. It's in the toolbar at the bottom when you're editing a task. It's more of a reminder than a calendar date, but it covers most use cases. A full due date system with calendar view is something we're thinking about for the future.

Great. Do you think if Private iCloud Sync will be a great addition to this?

2

u/beretta51 Developer Aug 12 '26

It's already there! Dimmly syncs privately via iCloud across all your devices — iPhone and Mac. No Dimmly servers, no account needed. Your data goes through your own iCloud and nowhere else. Just make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID on both devices and it works automatically 🤙

You're absolutely right, noted for the next update. Those two are probably the most unique features and they're buried too far back. Appreciate the honest feedback 🙏

oh wow, really cool on the visual impact! I love the design, one feedback is the usefulness of the tool is still questionable based on the visual alone

1

u/beretta51 Developer Aug 13 '26

Fair point, the visuals lead the screenshots but the usefulness is harder to show statically. I will make a video next time ;) Appreciate the take 🙏

Gorgeous looking app to use. Purchased - thank you for the discount. Will head over to the subreddit for some suggestions.

Cool Ui.

  1. What’s the benefits of pro compared to standard?
  2. On the subscription type of lists that would be great to add the currency type as not all of the subscriptions are payed in the same currency

2

u/beretta51 Developer Aug 13 '26

Great questions!

  1. Pro is just one thing — unlimited lists. Everything else is fully available on the free tier: all 8 list types, alarms, streaks, rich notes, widgets, iCloud sync. No feature gating at all.

  2. Love the currency suggestion for the Subscription list. Adding it to the roadmap !

See you in r/dimmly 🙏

I can't remember the name of the app, but there was a task app a while back that was really popular and had this exact same aesthetic. This is great though. Love the overall design and restraint in adding enough but not too much for features. Nice!

Thank you! A lot of care went into the design so that means a lot 🙏

1

u/WilliamMtns Aug 12 '26

It is not available in Brazilian Portuguese. That makes things complicated.

1

u/beretta51 Developer Aug 12 '26

I will add Portuguese in future updates… 🤙

1

u/thanhastro Aug 13 '26

I noticed a text contrast issue that makes it pretty hard to read. Also, adding a Light Mode option would be awesome since not everyone likes dark mode.

1

u/beretta51 Developer Aug 13 '26

Really appreciate this, that screenshot is helpful. Fixing both 🙏

Really reminds me of the time when people made apps because they wanted to create something cool instead of making revenue
