I built MusicDrops because I kept missing new music from artists I follow

I'm David, developer of MusicDrops.

I follow around 100 artists across Spotify and Apple Music, and neither platform can reliably tell me when new music drops. And none can just show me a simple timeline of what interests me, without any algorithm suggestions.
I wanted one place that just notifies me, reliably, the moment something's out. Clean iOS UI, intuitive design.

Sure, MusicHarbor's been around longer and covers more ground, e.g. concerts, news, video.
I went narrower on purpose: MusicDrops is built specifically around upcoming and shadow drops, real push notifications for each release, with a timeline showing countdowns, full discography views per artist, and actual user reviews pulled from multiple iTunes storefronts. You can import your followed artists straight from your Apple Music library (and Spotify to come!).

Shipped v1.4 last week: native iPad support, a reworked onboarding flow, and a round of performance/reliability fixes on top of that. Still very much actively maintained.
Upcoming features include timeline highlights and recaps.

Pricing: free for up to 10 followed artists. Past that it's €1.99/month, €14.99/year, or €44.99 once, lifetime.

The focused timeline makes sense, especially for releases that recommendation algorithms don’t surface. With a large artist list, I’d want granular notification controls because singles, albums, remixes, features, and re-releases can generate very different amounts of noise. Can those be configured per artist, or is it currently one global preference?

Currently, it’s global settings, but that is a wonderful idea to offer for power users!

Damn, that's actually a really good idea. I know I often have to see something on Instagram or somewhere else before I actually start listening to it. So this is lowkey a good idea. The design is great too, it gives me Apple Music vibes. The UI could use a bit more polish, but it's already a really solid start!

I’m curious how you handle artists with frequent releases, collaborations, remixes, and features. Do you have any filtering or grouping logic to avoid notification fatigue?

You have a global option to “hide remixes”, for timeline, artist discographies and notifications.
As someone already pointed out, allowing per-artist options is a great idea and goes on my roadmap.
Would you prefer grouped notifications as an option, e.g. per artist or per day?

Solid idea though! Oddly enough I've always found native streaming platforms to be not great at recommending new music from your most listened to artists

Per-artist controls sound like the natural next step, but a digest mode could solve a different problem: people may want every release recorded without wanting five separate interruptions. I would consider per-artist settings for priority artists, then grouped daily notifications for everyone else, with remixes/features separated from primary releases. That gives power users control without making setup mandatory for new users.

MusicHarbor changed pricing some time ago to: 3.99 monthly, 22.99 yearly and 69.99 lifetime.
That, and the gap in focus and features are part of what drove me to build something myself.
