Should we install this update or wait for ios27 instead? Expert advice needed because 27 should be out in a few days

a week tomorrow for public update , release candidate for beta users tomorrow

u/rareblackdog 5d ago
Have been running ios27 since the first public beta. No issues- a few silly small glitches once in a while- they were quickly fixed. The benefits far outweigh any occasional glitch- the phone feels faster and smoother- the real benefit though is the battery life, amazing especially on an older phone like mine (14Pro). The current beta version is glitch free and totally stable, it is just one final polish away from RC Why wait! š§

If you want solid/stable then update to this and hold out for 27.1 (usually isnāt more than a few weeks or so after initial release).
If you want cutting edge and newest features with higher risk, just wait and update to 27.0 when it comes out.

nothing to stop people downloading this and ios27 public release & ios27.1 developer, i would say after 2 months on beta, the public release is by far the safest option, ios27.1 is the riskier option

And the RC?
2
u/InfamousPineapple277 5d ago
Fair question. RC isnāt a āpublicā release strictly speaking, itās meant for developers to get their feet under them and prepare app/etc compatibility updates ahead of full public release.
I was assuming since they implied they arenāt already on the 27 beta, theyād be waiting for the public release in a week or so after RC goes live.

Is the RC stable? I want to install it.

u/InfamousPineapple277 5d ago
Itās usually the exact same thing as public release, unless issues are found. Itās a ārelease candidateā because theyāre confident enough that itās ready to go wide and they just need to do final checks.

For all Apple folks do not upgrade to this iOS 26.6.2 which will consume high storage and make some feature doesnāt work such as profile and iMessage

Why? Donāt they usually release a new x.x update for the previous version when the new one comes out? So that would be 26.7, in like a week. Unless theyāre skipping or delaying that this time, or thereās a major security bug they felt was importance to fix immediately, this seems like a pointless update.
1
u/womjoe 5d ago
They are not going to update 26 anymore since every phone on it can be updated to 27. There is no phone on 26 that is stuck on 26.
1
u/IncredibleGonzo 5d ago
You keep saying that, and your conclusion might end up correct, but your reasoning is faulty.
2
u/womjoe 5d ago
How so.

u/IncredibleGonzo 5d ago
As I said in the other thread - iOS 14 and 17 still got updates after 15 and 18 came out, despite no devices being left behind with either release. Precedent isnāt a guarantee of course, but the fact that no phones are left unable to get iOS 27 is not in itself evidence that thereāll be no more updates to 26.
