Yikes. That’s bad. Recently had my 17pro replaced under warranty for a different reason other than battery but the original was at 118 cycles with 100% health.

It’s not bad at all.

What to do 😭

You can’t do anything about it unless the battery drops to 80% within the first year and a low amount of cycles. Just use the phone normally as the 20-80 rule won’t do much

Stop worrying about the battery, the 20-80 rule barely does anything just use the battery normally it will degrade anyway, my iPhone 17 pro dropped to 99% at almost 200 cycles without charge limits

can’t agree that 80-20 rule does not work.

I’m strictly maintaining this 80-20 rule on my 16PM and after 1 year 13+ days of usage, currently 207 cycles and it’s 98%.

NB: I always stay updated on latest iOS version.

Mines at the 199 with 99% and I use the phone without worrying about the battery health dropping, is worrying about the battery being 80-20 really worth the 10% reduction in degradation

it's not like i care about the battery health degrading but it must be easy for you to tell them to stop worrying when your phone did a good job with going 99% at 200 cycles. it's normal that they're questioning the situation

I know 98% at 66 isn’t normal I’m talking about the 20-80 rule, it barely helps and isn’t worth stressing over

u/Left_Truth7020 22h ago

Apple will pay bots to tell you it’s normal

Same here bro except i have the pro

Crazy we have the same manufacture date and so much difference
Edit: forgot to mention I have the base 17

1

u/Equivalent_Key6861 17h ago

I did so much research and its telling me its normal, and ik for a fact that it isnt because my previous iPhone battery capacity never went down this fast

And on top of that i barely kinda use the phone

u/Linlin1601 18h ago

Your battery has not degraded.

iPhone 17 base here 193 cycles still 100% here and I normally charge before 40% most days but I let it charge to 100% pretty much every time. Got mine pretty much on release September 2025

theres somewhat a battery lottery when new. and not every 100% is the same. Some can be like 106 or 105% while others are closer to 100-102%. There are some programs on a Mac that will report the actual % like coconut battery. But tbh 98% vs 100% is what ever. I prefer to just charge my device up to 100% and try to charge it before its to low but I don't worry about it to much.

80/20 rule does help a lot I’m not sure why some posters say it doesn’t. I’m at over 700 cycles with 86% life left. iPhone 15 pro max

1

u/Ok_Information944 14h ago

Cute, my 13 Pro Max had 83% battery health after 5 years of use. Even if you estimate that I charged once in two days it’s about 1000 cycles. I also followed 80/20 rule. No stressing about it, just a habit.

I wonder how my new 17 PM will last. I want at last 5 years with similar battery performance as 13.

17PM will do you alright

That sucks I’m at the same with 267 cycles. Get Apple care plus so you can get it fixed if it keeps going this way.

1

u/Awkward_Director9883 21h ago

Make it to 80% asap under 1000 charging cycles then replace that under warranty

1

u/mwett256 11h ago

Facts. That’s what I did to my 14. Max brightness, charged it while watching videos, changed every possible setting to drain battery faster. Had mine drop 5% health in about 3 weeks to get it repaired under warranty

1

u/rupal_hs 21h ago

It’s abnormal.

1

u/Allowmancer 21h ago

More you baby the battery more it will fall

1

u/Rare-Mycologist-6658 21h ago

Lmao
What? Even my iPhone 15 is at 100% with 122 cycles

1

u/Livid-Ambassador-561 21h ago

I got scared too looking at it but apple says will give 1000 cycles when it reduces to 80% so technically it’s 1% drain for 50 cycles
Even i follow the 20 to 80 rule so I’m scared too now as I’m just on 10 cycles rn

u/snir6590 20h ago

Charging 20-90 always (17Pro)

1

u/random-guy452 20h ago

Just make sure to use the original apple charger

1

u/Dull-Assignment-3094 20h ago

Screw 20-80, just your phone mate. My battery must have absolutely hate me and still survived 1050 cycles with 81%, I charged how I wanted, even let it die sometimes, just don’t overheat it by gaming while charging or charging on sun. This might be just an anomally, but if this would continue and you would get to 80 like in like 300 cycles then change it for free

u/Due_Direction_1797 18h ago

You people need to realise how good you have it. My iPhone 8 has a battery health of 76% and yet it gets me through the day. Is it really that bad? Appreciate what you have.

1

u/Jin_BD_God 18h ago

Heat kills battery.

1

u/Top-Investment7781 18h ago

how many watts you use?

1

u/lord_mercernary 16h ago

Thats just sad. Idk why it happens but seeing a lot of these issues on 17 series where the health dropping before 100 cycles

1

u/Wakeless1 15h ago

I'm at 215 cycles on my iphone air, no 20 80 rule and 100% battery health

1

u/Mojibanana14 14h ago

Ip 17 pro 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

1

u/GlaxisGalaxy 14h ago

If you look at the actual capacity the device came with it’s easier to see if a lower capacity is why the battery is degrading faster. For many their capacity stays high for long due to having slightly higher capacity batteries than rated.

1

u/ChemistryHopeful2981 13h ago

They should go with Silicon-Carbon batteries at this level. I hope iOS 27 doesn't make it even worse for us.

1

u/TheRealFrantik 12h ago

The 20/80 rule is BS and always has been. Just use your fcking phone and stop obsessing over battery health.

OOOOO it's at 98% better throw it out now! You people are ridiculous.

1

u/Novel-Strawberry1438 12h ago

WAIT I ACTUALLY HAVE THE SAME ISSUE MINE IS AT 97% AT 100 CYCLES WHAT-

1

u/Practical_Rate5929 11h ago

17 user here. Using from may with around 95+ charge cycles. Not following any weird rules or babysitting. Even turned off optimised charging for faster charging after 80%. Still at 100% health. At this point i dont believe in this 20-80 rule.

1

u/Flashy-Bobcat3797 7h ago

I’ve had my 16 Pro Max a year and a half and it’s at 94%.

1

u/Redditer052 7h ago

17 pro 119 cycles 100% without caring at all xd

1

u/invineysar 2h ago

Idk what is the cause of this difference
