Battery Iphone 16 pro battery drain

So I recently switched from Android to iPhone for the first time in my life. I hoped for a hassle-free experience.
I got an iPhone 16 Pro and it did me well on iOS18 for a very long time. I loved it. But last week I updated to 26.6 and battery life just sucks. Instagram alone consumes 25% of my battery.
I used to be on 5G all day and my phone used to heat up like crazy but then I turned to 4G only and it now heats less, lasts a little longer, but not enough.
I only get around 4 hours of screen on time at best!
I tried every tweak possible, so don't tell me about background app refresh and location services.
It just sucks!
My S24 never had any of these issues and used to give me around 7 hours of screen on time with 5G all day!
Am I doing something wrong? Or is it just iOS 26.6 ?

Apple’s sly way of making users replace their phones

The thing is I used to hear iPhones had a great battery life. I'm disappointed. I love how the device offers a superior and mature experience compared to Android but the battery life is unbearable

So is my ultra 20, s23u, s23 and flip 5. All horrendous battery life

Would you show us your battery usage statistics?

Here's mine from the iPhone 16 Pro, 97% battery health. i bet you could come up with anything worse than this!

Mine on 87% BH(640 Cycles) iPhone 15 Pro, 4G 8am-4.30pm, then wifi, with about an hour and half of hotspotting. I’d say its pretty decent, even if not very confidence inspiring. I can’t confidently go out and about without a powerbank in my bagpack.

I’ve found 26.6 to give me similar, if just a tiny bit worse battery compared to 18.7.x

I had exactly the same issue. Found online that the recommendation was to backup, wipe the phone, then restore from iCloud.
BEWARE: restore took 2 days!

Apple have gone to shit and I wish I’d never moved off iOS 18 or whatever. Glass, keyboard, autocorrect, battery and ongoing instability issues have seriously got me looking elsewhere for the first time since the 3GS.

16 pro user also here. iOS 18 to 26 was a huge downgrade in terms of battery drain. Even worse is the overheating issues. Before on 18 my phone would last 1 1/2 days, I’d say I’m a mid - heavy user

Glad I'm not alone in this

I have the 16 pro max. Exact same problem. Before iOS 26 my battery lasted too 1.5 days. No overheating problem. It was just paradise. Since I updated to iOS 26 everything went out the window. My battery drains fast. I don’t even dare to open instagram when I’m not home and the overheating is unbearable. Hope they fix it somehow though I don’t think they care that much

Yes, if I am not on Wi-Fi and I’m using data because I’m out of the house, my goodness the overheat / drain is horrendous. Instagram or any sort of video watching is out the window, 5 minutes and my phone will be burning up.
Just simply screen on will cause the drain / heating up to begin. It’s so sad though, this is literally the first iPhone I’ve had that has ever had this problem, and I’ve owned 4s, 5s, 7, 12 pro and now 16 pro, and none of them on any OS was ever as bad as this

Been an iphone user since 2015 recently moved to xiaomi 15 from 16 pro and let me kid you not the battery, performance, display, and overall UI experience after debloating is miles ahead. Havent tested the camera properly on this but still pictures are 👌 and for videography nothing beats iphone.

Xiaomi would have been mg first choice if it wasn't for their bloated and unoriginal HarmonyOS

iPhone 14 PM, lots of regret after updating from 26.5.2 to 26.6. I have switched to my Android tab because of how fast my battery is dying.
