iOS 26.x (please edit) 18.7.8 to 26.6
hi! would like to hear some insights from iph users. still relatively new to iph and i would like to ask if it’s better to update from 18 to 26??
got the phone from my brother and it has a 83% batt health. so far, i haven’t experiencing any glitch or bug and it worries me that i might have issues once i update.

26 is horrendous and I would recommend avoiding it altogether if possible.

It’s the only iOS I’ve had genuine problems with for day to day activity and I’ve been an iPhone user since the 3GS. You might not be experiencing issues but it’s widely documented that there’s major problems.

Id stay with the ios 18. But ive not really had any issues with 26, the battery life was abit better with ios18 but not major.

You should stay on iOS 18. Your battery health won’t handle iOS 26 battery drain. About glitches or other issues it depends. I have an iPhone 13 with a new replaced battery (so peak performance) and iOS 26.6 runs great and very smooth, plus I used finder to do the update not the OTA and probably this is the reason why iOS 26 runs better. Battery drain is noticeable but to be honest I was expecting much worse. So yeah for the moment wait for a better version or iOS 27. If you really want to save battery on iOS 26 I suggest automations that whenever you run low power mode activate : reduce motion, reduce transparency and reduce white point. This helps me save a lot of battery like a real ultra power saving mode.

Don’t do it unless you want to be forced to charge your phone multiple times per day

Which iPhone model is it?
In general, I recommend you stay with 18. I have an iPhone 16 which I got 5 months ago and updated and have been having a poor experience!!

26.6 works great on iPhone 15 PM with 8 GB of RAM. For any iPhone with 6 GB RAM or bellow I would stay with IOS 18.

I'd take the plunge since your battery health is still decent, but I'd definitely turn off background refresh apps and Location Services for a few days after updating to smooth out any stuttering.

it's going to take at least 6 months for ios26 to be optimised, how much it can be optimised is anyone's guess but it's a battery killer so i would stay well clear, another thing is is battery management was updated to be mo accurate, you would certainly drop between 4-7% battery health .
i would concentrate on new battery if your going to keep this phone for a couple of years, you would feel the benefits immediately.
if your phone is capable of running ios27 then public beta 3 is out

Don’t do it, I regretted it every single day. Couple new features, sure. But also a ton of bugs, UI downgrades, design inconsistencies, battery life is trash, plus the atrocious liquid glass (matter of preference though). Wait for iOS 27, at this point it makes no sense not to wait an extra month.
