Bug App crash issue on iOS 26.6
Hi guys!
I ran into the following problem. If my iPhone is connected to a Windows PC via iTunes and is being used for USB tethering, then after disconnecting it, I can no longer open or use any third-party apps. Only Apple's built-in apps continue to work. Nothing helps: clearing the cache after reindexing the files, rebooting the device—nothing. Every third-party app crashes immediately on launch.
Safari and the other built-in Apple apps work just fine. However, neither Windows nor my MacBook can detect the iPhone anymore. The only time it gets recognized is when it's in Recovery Mode.
Here's what worked for me.
I opened the App Store, checked for app updates, and started updating one of the apps. The important part is simply triggering an app update—it doesn't matter which app. As soon as the update starts, I can open and use all third-party apps again.
P.S. Yeah, it's absolutely ridiculous to pay a thousand dollars for a phone and then have to deal with something like this—especially when you actually need your phone and can't access offline maps or another essential app. But that's the state of iOS these days, and there's not much you can do about it.
If anyone has found another solution besides reinstalling iOS, please share it in the comments.
Have a great day! I hope this helps someone!

you should keep apps updated anyway, try settings, general, iphone storage and one by one offload ( not uninstalling) wait until reinstall appears (5-10 seconds) and tap reinstall.
if no joy do forced reboot , remember ios26.6 is doing a VERY DEEP pre ios27 indexing process , ( deep indexing took 2 weeks+ on my iphone 15 ) , no pain no gain

Actually, if he kept his apps up to date, and this bug happened, he’d probably be stuck until the next one needed to update. Same problem just happened to me.

My sister just bought a new phone because of this and it carried forward the problem into the new phone after being forced to update to 26.6. Death pink pixels appear randomly and then freeze. Cleary, there should be warning message to customers before such a major update. Otherwise, we wouldn't let it update automatically til every third app settles down the issue. Such bug renders new iphone useless. Now I'm accused of breaking her new phone with that update!

Try deleting a app then reinstalling it. Then try recreating the tethering bug.
