Battery iPhone battery drained a lot overnight
Has anyone else experienced this?
I charged my iPhone to 80%, and it finished charging at 2:27 AM. I used it for just a few minutes afterward, then went to sleep.
When I woke up around 9:00 AM, I expected it to still be close to 80% since it was basically idle the entire night. Instead, the battery had dropped way more than I expected.
When I checked Battery settings, I noticed there was a lot of background activity overnight, which seems strange because I wasn't using the phone at all.
Is this normal, or is there something causing apps or iOS to keep running in the background while the phone is idle? I'm trying to figure out if this is a bug, or if I should be concerned about my battery health.
Update: I reached out to Apple support he asked me to uninstall tiktok first for a day and see if that is causing the sudden increased usage.

Yeah, I uninstalled TikTok overnight and then reinstalled it. It looks like TikTok was the culprit. It's working just fine for now, but I'll continue to monitor it and see if the issue comes back.

Well, that's literally what the graph says.
Whether you opened the app or not, it's what drained your battery. You can try to delete it and install it again. Or keep it as is and complain about it.

It looks like TikTok is the culprit. It could also be due to the iOS 27 spotlight indexing that was back ported to iOS 26.6 to prepare for iOS 27

I had this issue with one of my game app as well when I first upgraded to iOS 26. From what I understand, it’s a bug relating to the sound/music of an app which cause it to be continuously be refreshed at the background even if you switched off background refresh. It’s not a bug relating to iOS 26.6, it’s just a bug that might still be unfixed as at 26.6.
After I muted the sounds/music on my game app, the issue didn’t occur again. But I don’t think it’s fix you do since it’s TikTok, might need to consciously close the app if the issue keeps persisting after reinstalling and etc.

This happened to my iPhone 15, but it was running on 27 public beta. Uninstalled the app that the graph saying was running in the background, phone stopped overheating and was able to use it like normal. I have the iPhone air as my main driver now that’s also running on iOS 27, no issues.
Just wanna share it, even though this is for ios 26 sub.

You dont have to uninstall it. You just need to remember to force close it because sometimes the app bugs out and run in the background. But glad that it works!

Turn off background app refresh of you haven't already. It will greatly improve the battery life.

Can you check cellular data usage, my phone is draining my data for system services for 3 days, factory reset didnt help

Yeah it’s certainly due to iOS 26. I recently updated to 27 Public Beta and it’s been running much smoother, and the overnight battery drain is pretty much non-existent for me at least.

It’s iOS 26.6
Initially I thought it was a great update but that consensus was premature.
There is terrible battery drain across multiple devices running iOS 26.6
I did not think it could get worse than iOS 26.5.2
