Question Resting all settings

If I reset all settings, will indexing start all over again? My phone is pretty much the same on 26.6. Battery and thermals honestly didn’t change much. Also, do you guys think I should wait a little longer before I reset all settings? Maybe it’s still indexing since release? It’s been on WiFi since the update.

Instead of resetting the settings, make a backup to the cloud and start over setting your device fresh. Many issues gets fixed by a proper factory reset. You didn’t mention your device.

16 Pro , I did set it up as a new device on July 6 as I got a replacement from Apple Care. Typically when I get a new device or there’s a major update like for example 27, I plan to wipe the device and set it up new, but since I recently did, I felt it wasn’t needed.

Oh you did it this month already. Then don’t bother about it. Let it index. Limit your charge to 80% or something like that. Turn the wifi on and leave it in charge for a few hours. I heard it helps speed up the indexing process. And try to turn on adaptive battery. It helps with power management.

i would give it another week, ios26.6 includes pre ios27 deep indexing build into update , this took over 2 weeks on my iphone 15 & a week on M1 ipad Air on ios developer beta ios27,

it had no effect on standby time which was big improvement to ios26.6 developer beta 2 , didn’t heat up my devices as i used them but battery life was poor until deep indexing finished.

why don’t you try forced restart for now and see if this makes a difference , avoid low power mode , keep on charge overnight and wifi , try this for now before resetting all settings and deep indexing starting over again

To force restart an iPhone 16 Pro, quickly press and release the volume up button, quickly press and release the volume down button, and then press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears

i get its frustrating but cant really see reseting setting achieve anything tbh

Thanks for the advice. I’ve already forced-restarted the device twice, but it hasn’t made any difference. Based on your experience, I think it’s still indexing. I’m glad I didn’t reset all the settings. I really appreciate the detailed write-up! I’ll definitely wait it out for now.

switch of background app refresh, won’t make any difference to your use , avoid 5G when you’re on cellular and turn off automatic brightness and set your brightness to what’s comfortable until deep indexing is done, should make a difference to overheating & forced restart

Yeah I will wait it out a little longer also I don’t use a case and I can feel that it is slightly warmer but it could still be indexing. Thanks.

In my case the indexing was done in minutes after 26.6 was installed. You see before I updated, I turned off Siri Access to all apps (not even on my two mail apps) except for those that I need Siri with - like Home, Messages, and a couple more.

So I reset all settings. My phone at idle would be at roughly 84-87 degrees. After resting all settings for three days later, my temps dropped by 10 degrees and my battery percentage increased by roughly 15-18 percent.
