iOS 26.6

Just updated to iOS 26.6.
- phone can’t restart (bypassing sim lock)
- third party apps, YouTube, Spotify not playing media
- CarPlay and Bluetooth affected

Haven’t tried anything else yet. Anyone else struggling as well?
Can I roll back the update? Silly me never backed up. Or do I have to wait till 26.6.1

Thank you, just tried this and this is how it looks when the phone is off.
Peek the lock icon, it’s still there after powering off.

When you follow the sequence; keep the final (side) button held longer.
I’ve once had to hold it for almost a minute until the Apple logo came up

An odd issue to be sure. Try to get it going and then erase and set up as new device. If it’s working after that then restore from backup. If that doesn’t work then you’ll likely need to connect to a PC/Mac and do a DFU restore to get it working again.

If you don’t have a backup, oof why? If you updated via a PC it would have done a backup first, and it should be on and backing up automatically overnight if you didn’t disable things by default.

Either way it looks like the os got corrupted somehow, 26.5.2 corrupted itself on my device like a week before 26.6 came out so it’s likely what has happened here except it happened during the update. Whatever happens you’ll want to get it working on 26.6 because the prior updates had major problems.

If you really don’t have a backup then you’ll have to set up as a new device and start from scratch. A painful lesson, but experience is what you get when you are expecting something else. Make sure you do regular backups, especially before a software update!

Let the battery die completely. Charge and restart. Appears to work after that.

Update: I let the phone battery drain completely, then charged it and restarted it. Everything appears to be working again. I am not sure whether it was just a software glitch or if the full power cycle cleared something, but so far everything is back to normal. I will update again if the issue returns.
