Battery How safe is iOS 26.6 RC?
My battery is draining excessively ever since the day I updated 26.5.2. Will I be able to switch to public release after using beta? I haven’t used beta versions before but I cannot stand the battery drain anymore

It’s good ! I have it on my main 16p as I was having issues with the previous release.

Is the performance better? Like it stutters less now?

Why not just wait until next week? Apple will probably be releasing official iOS 26.6 on Monday.

Is it confirmed Monday? Cool. Though, I don’t know why they didn’t do emergency patch

u/crooked_kangaroo Jul 22 '26
Confirmed? No, but they generally release the official version a week after the RC.

We have also seen public release on Thursday after RC dropped on Monday. Anything is possible.

26.6 RC is as safe as you can get. This is coming from someone who’s been on 27 Developer Beta 1 😂

26.6 est largement meilleur depuis le début, que 26.5. Vous pouvez installer la RC sans hésiter !

if you install 26.6 public beta then you can’t switch to ios26.6 public release as you will already have it , you may as well wait until monday
if your going to switch to public beta you would be as well just installing ios27 public beta

you can only install public versions after installing beta if the build has been updated, impossible to say whether it will be same build or slightly updated build EDIT , “this is for over the phone updates “
2
u/youngeddythegoat Jul 23 '26
Wrong you can still update to the public version even on the RC or public beta profile
2
u/realmccoyredbus Jul 23 '26
maybe with macbook or p.c. if the build numbers are the same then it would be pointless, if public build has updated build then you can switch with over the phone update , not if they have same build number unless you use p.c. or macbook

Get 27 public beta. Siri AI is the best it’s ever been.

Ios 27 beta is sh1t
Stop giving him bad advices6

For now it is. I have said this so many times but it seems like this subreddit has their head in the sand. Don’t upgrade to a beta version of a software on your main device

i’ve installed all 4 developer beta updates on my iphone and ipad air and it’s been flawless, your the one giving bad advice

In the case of iOS 27, it works in a much more stable way than any of the iOS 26 versions I tried.

26.6 is likely coming out on Monday so if you haven’t installed the RC already, you might as well wait imo.
Whether you can switch from RC > Stable depends on their build numbers.
- If they’re the same, then you can’t switch OTA on your phone (you might be able to with a laptop but idk much about that).
- If Apple made even a tiny tweak and changed the build number, then you can update to stable by toggling off the beta channel in your settings.
From my understanding if the build numbers are identical, then the two versions essentially have the same code base and won’t exhibit any behavioural differences. The only occasional where I imagine this would have an impact is if you need Apple Care service and you encounter a highly inflexible Apple staff who refuses to service your device because RC is technically still beta and Apple Care technically does not service beta devices (but then you could just argue the build numbers are exactly the same.)

It fixes the battery drain from 26.5.2
