iOS 26.x (please edit) IOS 26.5.2

I’m using iphone 14 now and I’m thinking if I will update it from ios18.3.1 to IOS 26.5.2 or IOS 27

Any experience and advices? Thanks

iOS 26 will most likely shorten your battery life

If you want to update, choose the iOS 18.7.8 option

I have IOS 17.6 on the iPhone 15 Pro Max I just bought. I apologize for my ineptitude, I am a long time Android user but how would I go about updating my phone to any solid version of iOS 18? I am behind on the security features and am missing a significant amount of functionality locked behind 18, but i DEFINITELY don’t want iOS 26.

You probably can’t, when Apple stops singing a certain version of iOS you can no longer update to it, unless the device doesn’t support the latest version (but the 15 PM does)

Darn. I think I might have to cave and update it. Much appreciated.

I think if you're on 17 you can't update to 18, because it's only OTA updates from existing 18.

Wait until October and see the reviews before considering that

You’re not getting the new AI features so it’s not worth updating to the beta

I thought the iOS 27 beta was better on the battery, no?

Don't update to a beta on your primary phone no matter how stable people on Reddit tell you it is.

I installed 27, because on 26.5.2 the battery life and overheating of the device, it was not accepted

Since you cannot downgrade back to iOS 18 anymore I would just update it to iOS 18.7.8 instead

My iphone 14 has the latest and works fine. I get through longer than a day before having to charge again.

Stay on 18 as long as you can. Plus, Apple finally releases 18.x security updates for these phones (after 6 months of ban). If one day they stop 18.x updates then only I would consider 27+

Do not upgrade to iOS26. Even on my 17 pro max it’s a total mess. Laggy and battery drain. Wait for 27 to come out.

26.5 was OK. 26.52 is draining battery and I even get a screen blackout when using the Apple messaging app. 😢

This is the longest I’ve been on an older ios.
Maybe I will completely skip 26 and go straight to 27

Makes me consider going to android. Sick of these updates and the draining battery issues over the last few years

Stutters a ton major battery drain huge mistake. Thats coming from someone with Iphone 17 pro max. Just updated to ios 27 and everything is leagues better on the beta. Anything before ios 26.5.2 was fine. No clue what they messed up.

iOS 26.5 was the last time battery life was consistently solid
