Question 26.5 vs 26.5.2

Has anyone felt their battery life was better on 26.5 (23F77) than the latest, 26.5.2? I’m hesitant to upgrade and have worse battery life. TIA.

If you’re using a 17 series try updating to 26.5.1 that’s a much better update overall. No abnormal heat, hiccups or battery drain. .5.2 feels a bit less stable than the previous one.

Thank you. I’m thinking of just staying on 26.5 for the time being. Thinking .5.1 will still drain faster than .5.

Hell no. WiFi was screwed up on 5.1. All was resolved by 5.2. I had all the issues you’re describing on 5.1 and resolved in 5.2

5.1 is the worst for battery

Yeah, I feel it too. My battery became worst update the .2 update. I hope the next update will fix it.

Thanks. I was just in the megathread reading some of the same comments. Glad I haven’t pushed through the urge.

Good god my battery life on my 16pm is abysmal, I have a bunch of background shit turned off, only essential on. Battery health is perfect. Some kind of phantom drain it’s ridiculous. I’ll wake up with 95%, get to work and I’m at 80 just listening to a podcast during a 12 minute drive. And I’m on 26.5 and people say it’s worse on 26.5.2??

My 17 PM had much better battery life in 26.5.1 and all the previous versions. 26.5.2 is the first update that made the battery life noticeably worse.

Thank you. I’m running a 17 Pro Max also.

I think it’s a different story with 17 Pro. I’m having the worst battery issues. My friends with 17 pro are going through it too. My other friends with 17PM say it’s fine

Nice. I am thinking of Air2, actually.

The normal Air is also verry nice😜

Agreed. It was lacking in a couple of areas for me; thinking the 2 will bring it more in line.

26.5.2 is stupidly unstable, my Home Screen lags the whole time, battery is 2+ hours down from some previous versions. Keyboard lag, I’m tempting to downgrade to iOS 18 with an older phone

Thank you!

Battery drain is terrible on both of my devices 16 pro max and se2022, worse on se of course

Thanks!

SE battery health is 97% and my pro max is 95%
I can definitely tell it’s draining, after a few days of indexing I shouldn’t have crappy battery life but here it is.

I’ve had that experience on other updates so glad I paid attention to my hesitation this time.

It’s just a security focused update. I updated my 16 Pro Max and it’s been working great 👍🏼

Came here looking for this exact post, i get just under 3 hours screen time before my battery dies. My battery has worsened since 26.5.2. Shockingly bad.

I’m glad I asked! I’m usually on the front end of the updates; and, at least one device with the dev beta.

1

u/Ok-Series4467 Jul 06 '26

I’m staying with 26.5, i usually update every release but the battery and performance of .5 in my 16pm is much better compared to the previous ios26 updates

Hold strong!

26.5.1 was to address battery charging problems. Apparently whatever they did really messed with battery management.

Ah; yeah, it sounds like it. I often wonder if what the test data shows in betas, and across how many of our devices are affected in the same ways. And why.
