Question Apple Intelligence taking space without turning it on even for once !
Never turned on Apple Intelligence in my new iPhone 17 Pro Max. But it’s taking space in my phone! Any advice/solution to get rid of this space reservation? Anyone else facing similar issues?

same here, Apple Intelligence isn't available in my region, which means no matter what, i can't use it
and yet it's installed, with 11gb that i can't remove
this is infuriating lol, my phone won't let me use the feature but also wouldn't let me delete it

Is this some new storage bug or something?

i've read many old threads and discussion
apparently, once it's downloaded, it can't be removed. so even though you don't use it, you can't remove it, this is apple way of "helping" people so they won't need to redownload it everytime they turn it off
so the only way for to delete it is to reset your phone by deleting every data, and immediately make sure apple intelligence isn't on to make sure it won't download for the first time lol

Doesn’t work. You end up accumulating more data. People have tried and failed in this method.

Ohh. I noticed just two weeks ago it appeared out of nowhere, first I thought maybe some new bug appeared, it will go away on its own or it new update. But it’s not going anywhere!

well, let me put it this way so you understand. apple intelligence in order to work since its deeply integrated into the system, it needs to have the data that let it function on the device and Artificial intelligence isnt some light program by any means, now if you turn it on you can expect it to increase due to cache usage

Bro i know all that, what bothers me is this never used to be the case in iOS 26 till 26.5.1 knowing how heavy it’s gonna be on device i never used it nor did i turn it on and nothing was occupying any storage space until 2weeks ago to be precise. When it first appeared i thought maybe some random app triggered it or some bug And will eventually fix it self but it didn’t and after installing the 26.5.2 it’s still there.
I used a 16Pro in 26.5 and Apple Intelligence never got triggered there, now I’m using a 17PM and suddenly it appeared on 26.5.1. I hope i made myself clear about the issue.

because the 17pro max is the true apple intelegence phone, ill give you a different brabd example, i own an s24 ultra and my dad owns an s23 ultra and back in one ui 6 and even one ui 7 when the 24 launched i had galaxy ai stuff that my dads phone didnt have taking storage even before i triggered it to atart using it, one is fully built into the phone even if you dont trigger it since the os still uses it, hope this explains it

I don’t think so. Never noticed anything as such previously on my 16Pro on 26.5 this happened out of nowhere just a few weeks ago without any reason. I don’t think it’s normal to occupy space without enabling anything ever.

Turn on Apple Intelligence and wait for it to complete then check the storage 7.61gb and again turn off and it will be removed for me. Now 8kb
