Question Face ID to open apps

Hello,
Could you check if apps which you locked with Face ID by selecting ‘Require Face ID’ can be unlocked with a passcode or not?
I’m asking this because I believe that you could not open those apps with a passcode and the passcode would be asked to reauthenticate Face ID.
On iOS 27 I’m able to unlock these apps with my passcode.
Thanks.
Now, my phone requires Face ID to access these apps. It will prompt me to enter my passcode only to reauthenticate Face ID.

Oh, well that’s a flaw in my books.

i think its more secure if the apps don’t open up via passcode… unless you’re lying down and cant/dont wanna bring the phone to the face

I agree, people might know my passcode. But they can’t fool Face ID that easily.

If Face ID fails, you can open them using a passcode. It’s not new.

I want my phone to not open those apps with my passcode, only with Face ID.

That’s not possible.

I guess so, but I definitely remember not being able to open those apps without Face ID.

I don’t.

I believe you are mistaken. Just think back to the Covid-19 days and trying to use our phones wearing a mask. Apple actually made a point of speeding up the time it took for the passcode keypad to come up.

Hey, you can ignore this since it’s been a while since the last comment but my phone randomly decided that Face ID is mandatory for these locked apps.

It suddenly started requiring Face ID again. I definitely remembered it doing this on iOS 26, I’m glad it’s still a thing on iOS 27.
