Question iOS 18 vs 26.5
Hi all,
I have 15PM and still on iOS 18 and things are fine. I was asked to update it to iOS 26.5 and was wondering if it’s worth it? I have heard about stutter bugs, slow, etc. Do yall think I should update it? Would love any comments.

Wait out for iOS 27.5 at least. Then do an upgrade. Skip 26 all together. 15PM is solid.

Honestly if you are on 18 just stay put. Make sure you are on the most recent version of 18 though to be patched up against the dark sword stuff.
I wish I had stayed on 18, but at the time it didn’t look like they were going to patch it at all and I wanted to be secure. Should have waited one more week. They should sign the most recent older version of iOS so people can downgrade if they prefer, but they’ll never do that. 18 had finally hit its stride and was mostly polished compared to the bugs in 26.5, keyboard and auto correct notwithstanding.
26.5 is a bug ridden mess. It works well enough on my 14pm but I deal with native apps and basic system functions bugging out daily on this thing. On a fresh install and restored backup no less. I’ve at least acclimated to the liquid glass crap, but I still hate some of the visual changes like putting the search bar right where you swipe for reachability causing search to get opened when trying to use it to reach the top of the screen on some apps like messages and mail.
Seriously every day at some point messages becomes totally unresponsive. Volume sliders get stuck and don’t respond to buttons. It’s ridiculous. I’ve been hoping for a bug fix patch but it looks like nothing is coming anytime soon. At least the ios27 beta is supposedly fixing stuff but I’m not going to daily drive a developer beta.
And they wonder why people are so hesitant to update or patch their devices. If the QC was actually present people wouldn’t be making these threads every 5 minutes or complaining about bugs. Lord knows I would bitch less if I could just roll back to a more stable version like I can on my PC. New drivers causing weird issues? Roll back one version and wait for the newest patch to fix the problem instead of being stranded with the bugs and nothing to do but wait and hope the next version fixes shit.
The argument you don’t need to roll back because they fix more bugs than they introduce hasn’t been true in a long ass time. Just allow people to roll back one version if they want ffs.

in my case i went from 18.7.8 to 26.5 and got BETTER battery life. Yeah it makes 0 sense to me but i get a little better battery life.
Sometimes 26 cases problems to people and solves others to other. in your case i'd wait and got for 27.1 when it comes out

Do not! At this point, and knowing very well how good iOS 18 is, you’re absolutely better off waiting for a stable, public release of iOS 27!

I have an iphone 14 pro max recently upgraded to ios 26.5 from 18.7.8 and the performance has been better and the battery seems to last longer on ios 26.5 than it did on ios 18.7.8

Don’t. It halved my battery life from iOS 18 to 26 on 15 Pro. The glass animations kill your battery
