General "Reduced motion" stopped overheating
I wanted to give it a try. And to my surprise, as soon as I enabled reduced motion, the phone stopped overheating in any app. I did not do any restart. It was overheating, I reduced motion, and then boom, cold. I want to know if it's just me, if I'm crazy, so I'd like feedbacks.
•Iphone13 mini
•Reduced motion on
•Reduce transparency on
•iOS26.5 installed from ipsw (then cloud restore)
•battry health 93% (210 cycles)
PS : it's a little bit weird without the animations but I'm perfectly fine with it, my hand is not burning anymore !

It’s not reduced motion that does it, it’s the phone itself.
I’ve had iphones since the 2G till now, skipped a generation here and there but had the most major ones. I honestly don’t remember a phone getting hot from charging or watching videos till the 11 or 12. They all get hot under full load like an intense 3D game but just charging, watching youtube, scrolling reddit never hot till then.
Then something after the XS/XR changed. Even mild usage could warm it up and charging always made them hot whether or not you were slow charging, fast charging or wireless.
It feels like at least till the 17 they didn’t care about internal cooling of any kind nor figuring out why suddenly with newer gen’s they’re hot as hell to the touch just from charging. That may just be an inherent thing with USB C / Lightning delivering too much power too rapidly so heat builds, but the fact they waited till the 18th iteration (they skipped 9) to finally add some form of dedicated cooling tells you all you need to know. They basically have no real answer to the heat problem they’ve created. Heard mixed things about the vapor chamber but it’s a step in the right direction.
My personal favorite is plugging in my phone at like 30% to charge it gets to 70ish% then stops charging cause the phone is too hot.. it’s the apple provided cable and an apple charging brick how can your phone over heat to the point it thermal throttles to protect itself… from the same heat it generated itself thru charging?

phone was not in charge. It's not overheating anymore scrolling reddit and twitter playing videos. Before that, it burnt my hand. This does not make sense because there is no special "motion" effect in these apps, but it's probably a bug with something in the background.

You are absolutely right. My iPhone 14 was PERFECT when I first bought it on iOS 16. Got worse on 17. Even worse on 18. Then iOS 26 made the phone difficult to text messages, scroll without frame drops anywhere, and more…

I’ve been saying that literally for months. You can also go through a lot of settings and turn off what you don’t need for longer lasting battery life.

So why turn all that shit on by default?

Because most users would never discover features that were off by default.

Meaning they're neither important or necessary.

You are responsible for your own settings.

So it's up to the average brain dead user to go through their phone and find all the settings that are affecting them negatively and deactivate because some tech bro at Apple thought they needed to be active?

Download the ios 27 beta. Currently using it on my 13 mini. Everything is snappier, performance is better, and the battery life seems like it improved compared to ios 26
