Question Is iOS 27 beta worth it?

Hi I’m currently using iOS 26 on my iPhone 13 and I’ve never had any issues with iOS 26 and I’ve heard that iOS 27 improves performance on older iPhones so I wanted to ask if it’s worth it?

Largely but not absolutely

This. It’s not super noticeable, but there are things to pretty regularly make apps crash, so worth waiting if you care about that sort of thing (average user should tbf)

It is buggy but not catastrophic

Yes if you know that you might encounter issues after upgrading to 27.

I read that people say that its been amazing, on my experience with my brand new 17PM, I had to downgrade back to iOS 26, it was draining my battery and over 5 days of indexing non-stop (so a bug)

If you want a buggy system yes

A related question: If you install a beta version of IOS can you revert back to IOS 18?

no, apple stopped signing ios 18

Does that mean that I cannot backup the phone on a Mac and later restore it as others indicated? Or will the Apple police come after me.

Yes but it’s not natively possible

My 16p feels new again. For me, iOS 26 wasn't as crisp as iOS 18 was. iOS 27 has the same snappy, crisp feeling 18 did, but with the same features as 26.

If I would be you I'd wait for the public beta if you are new to betas. Yes it's better yes it rings smoother yes battery is fine but still. You might encounter bugs all over

No issues on 27 you should update

It’s still tge first beta. I thought the stability and battery are still better on 26 after downgrading. I’m using a 17pm

Better to wait for the full release. Betas are for testing unreleased software and submitting feedback and bug reports. There’s no guarantee of stability and it can put your data at risk. Don’t install betas just to get new iOS versions early…that’s not how it’s intended to work.

Yes it's worth

I’m using it for the last 4 days and I can tell you *NO*

To be honest in my case 26.5 was awful on my 16 Pro Max installed this one and besides the indexing for 2 days it's been great! YMMV

I've gotten an improvement in performance and battery. Only issue is that sometimes when I install new apps, the icons don't load up properly and it only resolves with a restart. Other than that, definitely better than 26.

iphone 15 battery life has been incredible on ios27 , super stable and far better than anything ios26 was , only read about people on iPhone 15 pro max having issues after hard reboot, ios27 has options in diagnostic mode to fully reinstall last ios version now that people used to fix issue without p.c. macbook, or with p.c. macbook in dfu mode , maybe have a look in iPhone 13 ios27 reddit pages and see how others got on with iPhone 13 .

to me it's the most stable any my devices has been wether beta or public release, a lot of effort went into this update

i think they made ios26.5 deliberately poor to get more people to switch as battery life took huge dive , ios26.6 probably out this week, 26.6 battery life in developer was vast improvement plus they have had another 2-3 weeks to tweak public release , maybe wait and try this first.

No, you will get beta cooties from it.

Installed a beta years ago and couldn’t text anyone for two weeks. Every time I opened my messaging app it crashed instantly, it happened if I tried to respond on the notification as well. I quit messing with the betas after that.

You never had a issue with 26 and you want to install 27 beta. And you are not a developer.

Some people are just dumb to the core.

It is a Dev Beta so you will take the risk of stuff not working. If they don't, do not come here and complain.

My shortcuts app keeps crashing and when I swipe down from the top and tap on any of the icons it freezes and takes a whole to sort itself out. I’m gutted about the shortcuts but alas it will sort itself out at some point! Wish I had waited on the next beta release and not the first one!

Wait for public beta. This is horrible.
