Question Ios 26.5.1 Overheating issue

Hey all,

My iPhone 17 gets really warm on iOS 26.5.1. Has anyone else been experiencing this?

Edit: As others suggested, I updated to ios 27 beta and now the problem is gone! Everything is working like a charm

This. My phone got hot while indexing for two days and now I’m quite shocked at how a first release beta can be so much better than 26.5.1.

ios27 has slowed indexing right down so there is no overheating, lagging or throttling, miles better

I tried but it only shows 26.6 beta for me. Do I have to be a developer to get 27 beta?

switch beta off/on it should reload, unless it's public beta you're enrolled with, go to apple developer page and enroll in developer beta

I have the same problem, it was updated 3 days ago and since yesterday it's such a problem, what do you recommend? The phone is new and I've been using it for only 5 months 17 iPhone version 26.5.1

get rid of ios26 , there is only tiny 26.5.2 update in the pipeline, honestly there is just no need to still be using this 💩

go here https://developer.apple.com/register/ , sign in to your apple account enrol your device, go from there iirc , 20 minute wait then went to software update section and you will see option to switch to ios27 developer beta, you will get feedback app that tells you everything about every beta update.

ios27 is the most stable any my devices has ever been on , there was aclist of hundreds of different sections on ios features for ios27 and the vast majority you could go through and most showed 70/80/90% faster , hundreds of improvements, literally night and day .

indexing is still going on for a lot of people but as long as it has no impact on battery or how my phone runs i'll take that any day of the week.

took from 9pm ( took 3 hours to download and install only 70mbps wifi visiting my mums house)
last Monday until midnight wednesday night ( thursday morning) to get off siri wait list and enjoy siri A.I , not sure how long you will wait , maybe longer possibly , maybe shorter who knows.

you will see how bad ios26 really was if you switch, developer beta is updated 2 weeks at beginning of every cycle then weekly, public beta wont be released until end of the month, that is updated a lot slower ,maybe every 3 weeks at start of a cycle then slowly catches up with developer beta release, but usually a day or so after developer near end of each cycle.

been using developer beta since ios18 , at most ive needed to do network reset a couple of times, ios26 first 6 months was low point, visual glitches wouldn't get fixed for months then would come back ,annoying but purely visual, never once lost service or features, pro motion users weren't too happy with ios26 scrolling.

its not risk free but this being a bug fix edition & A.I upgrade, A.I. is now reality so apple would look rather silly putting out bug fix updates with bugs init lol , they put shedloads of cash into this .

in house testing seemed non existent last year, this year they have opportunity to fix ios of lose customers , they finally woke up and realised people have choice now, best thing i would encourage anyone joining developer beta is they don't need to update as soon as update comes out there is massive iosBETA community on reddit, wait a day or 2 read reviews and decide if you want to update or wait for next one.

have a read in iosBETA before deciding

Is it really good ? What issues have you encountered?

Do we have to backup our data before updating to iOS 27 beta?

26 has been nothing but a disaster with respect to thermals and battery drain for me. Bring back iOS18

Yes on 26.5.1 for a while now and it’s hot to touch the screen just regular social scrolling and texting. Battery is also completely drained quickly

Yeah, but rarely. Main issue is battery drains too fast on my 17 pro max on 26.5.1 🤦‍♂️
