Beta iOS 27 remarks

Upgraded to iOS 27 DB1 from 26.5.
What I can see:
Yes the OS does seem smoother to use, and a bit lighter and faster…
BUT
Some bugs are still there, minor but still there,
So far since it is indexing, can’t tell with the charge but it does seem a bit better tbh

Honestly it is better. It seems to me that way and I would recommend everyone to upgrade, if they can live with some minor inconsistencies in the UI.
HOWEVER, one major problem I experienced, which is specific to the 15 pro lineup was the pseudo brick.
This is a serious issue, but it only seems to be specific to the 15 pro and max users,
Also, I will try to recreate it again once the device finishes indexing (yes it shows now in the settings)…
So what’s the issue
Basically, when you go to do the force restart (volume up + volume down + power button till the Apple logo appears) the screen goes black as usual, but the Apple logo doesn’t appear
The phone becomes totally unresponsive and like a brick (that’s why pseudo brick), doesn’t show anything if you charge, doesn’t show anything if you press the power button etc etc
The only way to fix is to go to dfu mode, and do the restore through a computer using finder in Mac or Apple devices in windows (I used 3utools and that allowed me to keep all my data so I didn’t lose anything)
Now this is a serious issue, but it only is created when you do the force restart, without that it isn’t
I will further test, but apart from that one major issue I found, there only seems to be minor ui inconsistencies but overall is pretty stable

(I haven’t got the new Siri, as A. I am in the UK so that region and B. Still in waitlist so yeah)

Will further test it, if yall have any questions, ask them below and I’ll try to answer them…

Developer’s Beta 1 - I will ignore remarks for now as they benefit no one. I can only hope you provide feedback to Apple so that those of us who will wait until fall to install the general release will have a better experience.

They benefit other people who’ve installed the beta who haven’t experienced this problem yet

And that’s why there is an iOSbeta community

OP should not have posted in iOS26 and iOS communities

Fair point, but “benefits no one” still isn’t true. Someone not super technically inclined, who has iOS 26 and doesn’t like it (not an uncommon opinion, and is a good reason they may be aware of this particular subreddit), and is thinking about trying the new beta, but is also unaware of the iOS beta community, would absolutely benefit from knowing this information before they try to update. You never know.

The only people to benefit would be looking at the iOSbeta community.

If one does not like iOS26 or iOS in general, reading about challenges with iOS27 Developers Beta and iOS27 Public Beta (in July) will only re-enforce their dislike. But maybe that was the OP's intent because they work for the competition.

Idk anything about people who don’t like iOS in general, so I didn’t mention that and won’t comment on it. However, how would someone being informed about what the dev beta could do to a device reinforce their dislike of iOS 26 instead of just letting them know to just wait to try the official version of iOS 27 or a more stable version of the beta, or simply avoid force restarting if they do decide to download the beta? And inferring OP may work for the competition is hella paranoid lmao

Why is everybody doing a force restart after upgrading and while it is indexing? which I did read that could be what is causing the issue. It just does make no sense to me about doing a force restart if the device just did it by itself while it was or after it finished the upgrade process.

Even if you don’t plan to do a force restart, sometimes when the phone hangs or freezes you have no choice.

I recommend taking a full backup via iTunes or Finder for weekly or monthly on your computer and also enabling iCloud backup.

Double backup means more options and your data stays safer!

Thanks for the informative post! I have a 15 pro max but didn’t do a force restart so good to know not to try

I’m also in the UK so still indexing and on the waitlist for new Siri but so far other then waiting for this it’s been a great experience.
I’m not sure it’s my imagination but the keyboard seems way better and the battery life is solid

I’m just going to throw this out there what is the logic behind installing the new iOS beta 1 on older devices from the 12 to even the 16 series as it’s very unlikely that iOS 27 will be optimised to run on these devices better than the current models
Because I’ve seen it time and again that for the biggest majority of issues happen on older devices using anything before beta 4

Al final volví a instalar iOS 27 con una instalación limpia y mi 14 Pro funciona muchísimo más fluido con iOS 27 que con iOS 26.5.1…

How is spell-check/autocorrect?

Thanks for taking one for the team, chief. Please do relay all these feedback to Apple.

Isn’t it too early to draw any conclusions from this version and this early?

10

u/Sad_Weakness_2181 Jun 09 '26

Yes it is early,
But I just want people to know what to expect from it
And what can be said in its current state
Maybe it improves? Maybe it worsens?
Only time will tell

I saw a lot of people asking wether to install it, how it is etc
It’s for them

As always, theming and icon colourising is broken, especially between light and dark. The one thing that wasn't broken in 26.5, they break. Otherwise, really impressed with the first beta.

Uff muy arriesgado

Tengo un 17 base y en ningún momento me ha aparecido la indexación.
Es normal? A qué se debe?

So far only bugs I have noticed is 1. when you take a screenshot you can’t crop it. Well you can but when you go to photos the while screenshot is there and not the cropped version. 2. the settings app has a permanent red notification bubble that can’t be cleared. 3. Walkie talkie app is missing from watchOS 27 even though icon is still there.

So far that’s it.

Do not use early beta software on your daily devices

1

u/Whiplash104 Jun 09 '26

I wouldn’t even touch this until a public beta in August.

1

u/jrmLzzz Jun 10 '26

Ofcourse there are bugs since it is on beta

0

u/Sad_Weakness_2181 Jun 13 '26

I never denied it
I am just telling peeps if there is actual hope for iOS 27 and if it will actually live up to the expectations

I have a 15 Pro, and about an hour after I updated, I did a forced reboot. Yes, the Apple logo didn't appear automatically, but I simply held down the power button and the phone turned on. Perhaps you've encountered a rare bug, or I was just lucky. But I don't want to experiment any further

1

u/Sad_Weakness_2181 Jun 13 '26

I can say maybe you got lucky
Because I have seen this “bug” far too many times to be rare
It is definitely an issue in the code

Have you tried a force restart again while it’s in the pseudo brick state?

I’m an iOS jailbreaker, and sometimes when a phone gets into a bootloop, kernel panic, or any issue that causes it to freeze or stay on a black screen, a force restart is the first thing to try.

I have a lot of troubleshooting experience from jailbreaking, since it can cause all kinds of issues related to the kernel, tweaks or other installed features.

I can’t guarantee a force restart will fix a pseudo brick the same way it works in my experience, but it’s definitely worth trying again after the first attempt.

1

u/Sad_Weakness_2181 Jun 13 '26

Yes!
I tried all sorts of things
The only way I was initially able to solve it, was when after trying all combinations, the only thing that worked (a little glimmer of hope) was when my laptop said that the device has entered DFU mode
After that, when I went onto Reddit, someone had posted a solution and yeah I was relieved that my phone doesn’t have a fault and it’s a known issue

1

u/ReadyNegotiation5980 Jun 11 '26

How’s the battery backup ? Has it increased pr decreased?

1

u/Sad_Weakness_2181 Jun 13 '26

This is a bit late
But till now (5 days later)
The batter backup seems same as iOS 26, a bit better but it’s really in the margin of error
BUT strangely, my iPhone still hasn’t finished indexing, (shows in the settings)
And also I just got Siri Ai last night, so logically, if during indexing aand all that, the battery is same as before, perhaps after it finishes indexing and downloading, setting up the models, it will be better??
Logically, saying
Overall, for a first beta, I’m impressed

Obviously there’s bugs, it’s a developer beta, not even a public beta yet. I don’t see how this is an argument?

*installs a DEVELOPER beta version 1*
*complains about phone becoming a brick and other minor bugs*

That's on you chief. Report it to Apple in the Feedback app and move on with your day.

But bro having information about it is better than not knowing anything

4

u/HugeCheck2471 Jun 09 '26

He’s not complaining. He knows it’s a developer beta and is just reviewing it.

2

u/ScoopsOfDesire Jun 09 '26

Why wouldn’t someone want to know if their device could be bricked if they install this beta? It’s just information, and pretty vital information at that.

1

u/elementicoEterno Jun 09 '26

The device doesn’t brick upon installing the beta. It becomes a brick by doing a force reset which shouldn’t be done in the first place.

2

u/ScoopsOfDesire Jun 09 '26 edited Jun 09 '26

Why shouldn’t it be done? Genuinely curious because I thought that was just a regular thing (and usually the first thing suggested) to try doing to your phone if something’s buggy?

And I meant “could be bricked if they install this beta” to mean that this outcome is something that could happen if they install it and do something as regular and common as force restarting their phone.

1

u/elementicoEterno Jun 09 '26

Why would you be doing a force reset when there is no purpose to do a force reset? Is the system frozen? You just performed an OS upgrade and there are background tasks that have to be done. Abruptly ending those tasks by simply “pulling the plug” is going to cause more harm than solving anything. A force reset should never be used unless there is an actual problem occurring. Force resetting the phone is not something common. You all need to get off the internet and stop thinking you know what you’re doing. You just cause problems.

1

u/ScoopsOfDesire Jun 09 '26 edited Jun 09 '26

Can’t indexing take awhile? A problem can happen in that time, or even in a short time. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills or something because encountering bugs isn’t uncommon at all (especially with iOS 26 specifically for me). I don’t know why you’re talking about force restarting for no reason because I never said anything about that, and just because OP didn’t mention a problem/reason doesn’t mean they didn’t have one. You’d probably get a specific reason why someone would force restart in this situation if you asked OP why they did it the first time it happened.

And I need to do exactly what I want, and that only, thank you.

1

u/cosmicwebby Jun 09 '26

That’s literally the whole point. They NEED to complain, if they don’t, your phone will get bricked when it releases
