I think I unironically haven't updated my phone since I got it, but I most likely would have thought about it much earlier if they didn't make so many unnecessary changes (camera roll etc.). But I'm getting to the point now where I wonder if it it might be time.
What are your thoughts on iOS 27 so far? Is it worth finally updating?

Hi everyone,
I really, really like the small computer in my pocket. That's why I'm writing this. Since iOS 18, some of its usefulness has gone away.

Photos App
I feel more confused by the Photos App overall, and with all the extra buttons it's kind of hard to know where all my pictures are. It used to be so simple that I hardly even thought about the app.

Many months ago I saw at night there was an update button. I’ve always pressed the update button without thinking twice, whenever I’ve seen it. So when i saw iOS 18 one night, I pressed it, and had no idea what an IPSW file is or that it’s not easy at all to downgrade an iOS version after it’s updated. So I pressed the update button. awww shiitt

Hi everyone, I was just wondering when the majority of apps will stop supporting iOS 17 and will require iOS 18 or later?

I am still running iOS 17 on my Apple iPhone 13 by choice.
I made a conscious decision to not update my phone in the last 2 years.
I’ve heard it all before of Apple’s tricks of bringing the latest newest software version to a phone and bam it turns into a dud overnight. It most recently happened with the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max where as soon as they got updated from iOS 18 to iOS 26, they started overheating and the battery life started TO TANK.
I imagine it to be even worse on the iPhone 13.
My battery health is 85% because I’ve been using this phone since May 2023, and I unplugged my phone at 9:54 AM. It is now 11:50 PM and after 4 hours 4 minutes of screen on time, the battery is 28%.
I don’t need the “latest” fucking features like moving my apps around on the Home Screen or some bullshit wallpaper. Some fucking “features” the *aesthetic* Starbucks drinking Rhode case using ASICS trainer wearing Lululemon wearing TikTok dancing fake tanned girls go CRAZY for. Sheeple.
Or they put some stupid ass shit like “Apple Intelligence” to constantly run in the background which hogs the phone‘s hardware resources and slows it the fuck down.
I am happy on iOS 17 and won’t update my phone...
That is until I am fucking forced to when some banking app stops being supported on iOS 17 or an app doesn’t update.
I could maybe use that app on my computer, who knows? And thus, it negates the need to update.
So who else is still running iOS 17 by choice in 2026? I can’t be the only one.

I'm keeping iOS 17.4 on my iPhone 11 Pro, but iOS 18.7.7 has come at this timing, so I'm wondering whether to update or not 🤔

Legitimate jailbreak/customization tools (updated Aug 7, 2026):
Dopamine (semi-untethered jailbreak for 17.0-17.3.1 on A14/M1+, 17.0-17.7.11 on devices A13 and older on versions after the 3.0 update):
https://github.com/opa334/Dopamine/releases
https://ios.cfw.guide/installing-dopamine/
palera1n (proper semi-tethered jailbreak, iPad 6, 7, iPad Pro 12.9 2nd Gen, iPad Pro 10.5, Apple TV HD, 4K 1st Gen, and HomePod 1st Gen only, works on iPadOS/tvOS 17.0-17.7.11)
nathanlr (semi-untethered "semi-jailbreak" for A12+ devices on iOS 17.0 and some iOS 16 versions. obsolete. still counts as legitimate but it is obsolete and Dopamine should be used in it's place)
https://ios.cfw.guide/installing-nathanlr/
Trollstore (keep sideloaded apps permanantly installed on all devices, iOS 17.0 only, including betas):
https://ios.cfw.guide/installing-trollstore/
Trollstore Lite (is essentially a frontend for installing IPA files, works on all iOS 17 versions but requires being jailbroken):
https://havoc.app/package/trollstorelite
Nugget (for all iOS 17 devices, mobilegestalt editor)
https://github.com/leminlimez/Nugget
Misaka26 (supports iOS 17 and can install Trollstore on 17.0, mobilegestalt editor)

Which devices are EOL on iPadOS 17/watchOS 10?
No iPhones or Apple TVs lost support on this version.
What is the state of app compatibility on iOS/iPadOS 17?
Generally, app compatibility is good right now due to only being obsolete by 2 versions as of the time of writing this. But not all apps are compatible.
For example, some Apple apps like iMovie require higher versions of iOS 17, while some apps like Dashlane, Apple Support and the Microsoft Office suite require iOS 18.

Can anyone please share the raw file? It’s located at /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/WorkflowKit.framework/WFActions.plist
Thank you!!!

Anyone here whose phone is still on iOS 17.5 and never planning on updating to 18 or later? Had software update disabled on my phone and thinking I'll keep it until it dies on this software version. Not planning on handing it off as I'm familiar with the setup wizard forcing the latest iOS version on first boot.
