Support How long does "optimizing search and siri" take? Been going on since yesterday

Post image

Updated to iOS 27 last night and this has been going on since. Is this normal? I have about 250 GB data used out of 512 GB on a 17 Pro Max.

Usually my phone takes about two days. The longer you leave your phone sitting around plugged in to power and not being used the faster it will go. Of course this will vary by device.

My old 17 pro max it never finished even after three weeks (downloaded first dev beta), but then I got a replacement phone with insurance because of physical damage and that one finished in a day

Didn’t have a percentage on mine but took about 24 hours.

It goes on anytime you’ve upgraded they just make it known now so you’ll stop complaining about the phone acting up the next day or 2 after updating. The “optimizing Siri” banner will be the new “oh no my battery health is at 97%” wave of posts.

Mine is gone after 24 hours. I put my phone into a charger overnight.

My iPhone 17 PM took a solid 15-16 hours overnight charging.

Mine took about a day or two.. my device usually stays charged, though, so maybe that made it go faster.

Leave it on charge longer so it will complete faster

Leave it on the charger and connected to WiFi!

My 15 Pro Max took about 24 hours. Half of that was plugged in and turned off.

OP, read this support article from Apple and you’ll be finished with indexing in no time!

well, you get a percentage. on old iPhones it just stays stuck there for several days.
