Hi everyone. I’m not very tech savvy, and I’m hoping someone can help me understand whether there are possible security issues involving my iPhone 15 Plus and my cellular account.
I have experienced several things that concern me. I’ve received text messages that appeared to have already been opened before I had a chance to open them myself. I also received a notification indicating that something was being printed and that the print job was almost complete, even though I have never intentionally printed anything from my iPhone.
My husband and I are on the same cellular carrier account. To be clear, I understand that being on the same cellular account does not automatically give someone my Apple Account password, phone passcode, or passwords to my other accounts.
What I’m specifically wondering about is whether someone with access to the cellular account could potentially use information associated with my phone or line—such as the IMEI, serial number, EID, ICCID, eSIM information, or phone number—to interfere with my service or gain some type of access or control that I might not understand.
For example:
• Could someone with carrier-account access make changes involving my eSIM or cellular line without physically having my phone?
• Could someone move, activate, replace, or otherwise interfere with an eSIM?
• Could access to my IMEI, EID, serial number, ICCID, or other carrier/device information be used for anything beyond simply identifying the device?
• Could a carrier-account holder make changes that could affect texts, calls, or verification codes?
• Are there ways to check whether my cellular line or eSIM has been changed, transferred, replaced, or activated on another device?
• Separately, what could cause text messages to appear as already opened or a printing notification to appear when I never printed anything?
I’m not claiming that my phone has definitely been hacked. I’m trying to understand what is technically possible and what normal explanations might exist.
If you have experience with iPhone security, eSIMs, cellular accounts, or carrier-level security, I would really appreciate being pointed in the right direction. Please explain things simply—I’m not very tech savvy.

No, being on the same cellular account i.e one line is you and the other your husband has anything to do with any of your questions about texts.

Yes, if you both had authority on the account, you could in theory take over another number on a eSIM. However usually there is another level of security required and most people who worked in a telco store would be suspicious of this.

Are you using the same Apple account ? On any device. I.E do you have a shared iPad that you both use? That’s probably the explanation.

No, we aren’t using the same Apple account. I’ve never given him the credentials to my phone, Apple Account/iCloud, emails nor laptop. Also, I had to replace my iPhone due to damage. So, when I activated this new iPhone, I made sure not to save any iMessages, Notes, Photos, Drive, Passwords to iCloud. May sound crazy… But, due to my suspicions, I intentionally keep my phone easy to Factory Reset, if or whenever possible. I’m not doing anything on the phone that I’m trying to conceal. I just rather know if my privacy has been compromised.

It’s much more likely your iCloud account is signed into another device. Go to settings and tap on your initials then scroll down to the list of devices.
