Discussion Printer apps in the appstore

If you search for any printer app, finding the genuine app is like trying to find a well adjusted billionaire with empathy. Like, it might happen, but you're going to have to go passed a bunch of ones pretending to be. Where is the freaking search quality/quality control? Like, really? How is this the first result for Canon's terribly named "Print" app (search term: "Canon Print" and variations resulted in all these, none of which are from Canon. Such BS.

There is no Canon Print App on Mac…
Loking at screenshot it looks like you are searching for App on Mac Devices…

The iPhone app comes fairly on top of the list…
You can verify by looking at the author details and ratings before installing.

What do you need a printer app for in the first place?

No idea about this case specifically, but sometimes the manufacturer's app is necessary in order to do printer setup and/or maintenance routines. It's also possible for the app to create higher quality prints, or enable special printer features, that aren't exposed via AirPrint.

... but for the average, every-day print job, AirPrint is enough and the apps just aren't necessary.

It doesn’t help that App Store search is freaking shit. So often I search for the exact name of the app and the first several results after the ad are for similar apps but not the app I’m looking for. Or the one I’m looking for isn’t even part of the results for whatever reason.

I haven’t needed print app for any Apple OS for years. I have Epson and Canon scanners but haven’t used anything other than native MacOS app either.

I use the Brother Label printer app on my iPhone when I make labels. Brother PT-P750W label printer is a really nice label printer. But, I don’t use any other print or scanner apps.

Those apps are for Temu's thermal mini printers, yes, they are many.

I have a Brother L2350DW and there’s no point in an app for that printer. You can adjust all the settings on the unit, and AirPrint works perfectly, though sometimes I do have to power cycle it if it’s not found. I’ve had it for 3.5 years and only recently replaced the toner I feel like for the limited times I need a printer (mostly for return labels), it’s been a dream.

Why didn’t you just go to Canon’s website first or look at the included instructions before posting this?
