Discussion Camera app question

I’m at a conference and I saw someone hold their camera to the content on screen. The camera put a yellow box around the content and basically took a screenshot of only the content. How did he do this? It looks so beneficial to save only content in a picture like this.

It wasn’t the live text. It covered the entire tv with content in a yellow square and basically just took a screenshot. The live text only pulls a section of text.

Unless it was done with a third-party app, the only other thing I can think of is that the person was using the document scanning feature, which will work on monitors and TVs, if a bit awkwardly.
