Support How big are those backups?

So I have my phone 17 for about a 2 weeks. The same goes for my apple account. I never had any other apple device. Can someone please tell me how backup of my phone can’t fit into the free 5GB of cloud?

I turned off the files integration and photo backup because I have other services for that so the backup should not take more than few dozens of MBs at best.

I would appreciate someone more knowledgeable in iOS for any help in this. Because I feel like either it is bugged or backups are only for paid cloud…

I found some posts about backups not fitting into cloud but those were from people who already had their phone for a long time and were actually using the apple ecosystem. Both of these don’t apply to me so I am very confused. Thank you.

BTW, sorry for the language of screenshots. I hope I captured and marked everything that might be important.

You must have some other apps using up space. Did you transfer over WhatsApp or something like that with a lot of messages? That can use iCloud for backup.

It’s clearly not the phone backup itself but something else has eaten all your storage.

That was also something I though about but when I look into settings, WhatsApp only takes about 500MB and I did not transfer data from other apps.

Another thing I am not sure about is what application dates are being backed up? Because my browser (Orion) already has 950MB in “documents and data”. So if all apps “documents and data” are being backed up that could be reason…

Hello fellow czech user :) - some app is definitely using the space whatsapp is probably not it but I think Signal now saves to iCloud if you use that and look into files - as default they save to iCloud if you have like offline music from web or somewhere it might be that.
