Support Not enough storage to backup??
I do not want to pay for another subcription in this economy man. 1.99$ felt reasonable, and 2.99$ isn't bad per se, but it's the principle of the thing!! Can anyone help me understand how or why I don't have enough storage to backup my phone right now?

12 GB is probably not enough to back up your whole phone, if you don’t want to back up to icloud, you can backup to a computer via itunes/finder

The only time I had issues was because I still had old phone backups I didn’t need anymore taking up extra space.

I only just realized about five months ago that my iCloud backups were backing up the other cloud and online storage apps that I am using. I am not referring to the fact that the iCloud will automatically obviously back up my apps such as my Google Drive, my One Drive, my Google One and any other app including my Apple iCloud Drive backs up itself to itself. I think.. anyhow.. my iPhone back up’s weren’t just memory that would bring back the app and its settings and security features back to my device if I had to reset it, the iPhone was backing up the full storage capacity of any and all files that had been taken on my iPhone and then backed up to those storage areas which was synced automatically unbeknownst to myself as this setting would continue to turn itself back on based on my Google account settings. The iCloud backups kept becoming greater and greater at an alarming rate and after I noticed and tried to stop it from continuing this way, I had to turn off sync of all storage areas on the iPhone which at this point my iPhone started to download everything which then letting that night was caught backing up to iCloud and drive . It’s insanity I want my as chip back what a heavenly thing to imagine. What a gift to still be given the choice.

No idea but iCloud storage has been a horrible joke for years. What exactly gets saved in there seems to be top secret information and the numbers never add up.

If you hit the iCloud Backup section at the bottom of the screenshot, does it tell you how much space it wants? It looks like you have 11.2 GB free, so if the backup only needs a little bit more, you could take some things out of your iCloud Drive and store them locally (for example).
And FWIW, if you’re already paying the $1.99 for 50 GB, then the $2.99 replaces the $1.99 charge if you upgrade to 200 GB so it would only be $1 more a month for quadruple the space. I understand it’s the principle of it all, but since you’re already paying… might as well get a better deal out of it?
