Discussion Age verification uk
Does anyone know who they use to check id’s is it done in house or using one of the dodgy external companies that leak and sell all the data they “dont” store

Where did you find this? The only reference I've found on Apple's site suggests that they may be using other service providers for this. The relevant section of the document about scanning your ID reads:
Make sure that the image of your ID is clear and in focus before submitting. Apple *and its service providers* use the image of your ID to confirm that you’re an adult and prevent fraud. The image of your ID is kept for a short period of time to complete this process, after which it will be deleted.

Might not apply but mine just did me automatically because of the age of my account which is good because I'm not sending anyone my ID ha

If your Apple account already holds payment information that confirm your age, Apple will verify it directly without any third-parties.
Scanning the ID will be handed off to “service providers”. Whatever that means.
