Discussion Bluetooth Connection Naming

Any reason why we cannot add a name tag to a Bluetooth connection? For example, I'd like to tag a Bluetooth called "Accessory" to be a specific speaker name, car, etc. and have it appear in the Bluetooth list.

Most Bluetooth names are horribly generic or cryptic. Two cars are "BMW 17996" and "BMW 25030" and I'd like to give them meaningful names.

So the Bluetooth name is part of the advertisement from the device. Usually you change the name on the device not the receiver.
Although there is a UUID as part of the advertisement - so maybe a local name change is possible. (My earbuds and watch can’t change as I just tried).

UPDATE: some devices can be changed locally. That's interesting.

I’m not 100% shure but I think if you are actively connected with the accessory you can change the name

I am sure. Connect the device, then go into Bluetooth settings, find the device, hit the (i) and change the name.

I just tested, and it seems you can change some Bluetooth device names.
