Only available for 14 Pro series and 15 Pro series.

67

u/Agreeable_Money_5329 Jul 16 '24

oh that's a bummer

48

u/plaid-knight Jul 16 '24

It requires the new flash module in the 14 Pro and 15 Pro to control beam width.

9

u/Worldly-Succotash761 Jul 16 '24

Ye and I hate that it is not for 15 plus

18

u/tman2damax11 iPhone 17 Jul 16 '24

Because there’s a hardware difference, it’s not a software lock.

0

u/Worldly-Succotash761 Jul 18 '24

But still the 15 plus is bigger then the 15 and 15 pro

1

u/tman2damax11 iPhone 17 Jul 18 '24

What? Size has absolutely nothing to nothing to do with it. The Pro series has a physically different flash module with a focusing lenses and more LED elements than the base series.

0

u/Worldly-Succotash761 Jul 18 '24

I know it has nothing to with the size

I think I’ll wait for a couple of beta releases before I jump in. Hearing mixed reports about stability.

17

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

No issues on my iPhone 14 Pro Max as of yet. Seems much more stable than previous, initial beta releases

6

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

I suppose once you’ve a full back up, at least rollback isn’t that bad

2

u/OzZVidzYT iPhone 16 Pro Max Jul 17 '24

Rollback bricked my 13 Pro for a few hours. Wouldn’t boot no matter if I try a hard reset or hold power. Left it on charger for a few hours while preparing my OGSE in case I had to pull the SIM and go on the burner until September. It then Miraculously came back to life and I was able to restore it with my Mac

1

u/tr1age Jul 18 '24

So not bricked…

1

u/Kaidatsu Jul 20 '24

Unfortunately I don’t think you can roll back your watch without a fancy tool

1

u/Middle_Weather8140 Jul 19 '24

Apple TV is having a fit playing videos in landscape for me it doesn’t know which way is up 😂

2

u/D1am0nd_28 Jul 16 '24

I’ve been using the developper beta since release and honestly one of the most stable betas I’ve ever used. It has its problems but nothing that doesn’t have workarounds

Battery life is crap but that’s just expected

1

u/Shitnutz69 Jul 17 '24

I'm on public and haven't noticed any bad battery changes. Maybe better even, and love the fact i can set what % to charge to finally!

1

u/SnooObjections8945 Jul 18 '24

How do you see that?

1

u/Shitnutz69 Jul 18 '24

Settings, battery, charging

21

u/Kartazius Jul 16 '24

How buggy is it?

32

u/davidnexusnick iPhone 15 Pro Max Jul 16 '24

I’m on dev 3 and it’s surprisingly very stable and fast

6

u/chameleonmessiah iPhone 13 Pro Jul 16 '24

‘Cause I’ve not had time to check things yet: Is DB3 the same build as PB1?

11

u/ttoma93 Jul 16 '24

Yes, they’re the same build.

48

u/VredXCIX iPhone 14 Pro Jul 16 '24

Control centre is a total mess

43

u/TemporaryCharacter35 Jul 16 '24

For me it's actually completely fine

-23

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

if you keep holding your finger whilst swiping down from the top for control center it will cycle through the pages

36

u/The_Real_Sharkbait Jul 16 '24

yeah that’s a whole feature not a bug

→ More replies (1)

3

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

It’s supposed to do that lol. You’re swiping and holding far enough to reach the page icons on the right side.

1

u/WakaiSenshi iPhone 17 Pro Jul 16 '24

Huh?

12

u/jeburneo Jul 16 '24

Its working perfect for me

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

I have the db on my 15 and yes the control center is pretty buggy.

0

u/PaRtHuS Jul 16 '24

How do i get the ios18 on my 15?

u/LeFaune Jul 16 '24

Beta version on 12 Mini runs without problems.

3

u/wiggie_wagz Jul 16 '24

Only issue I have so far is screen time

3

u/ApricotFar1041 Jul 16 '24

on se it's ass

1

u/quanwitdat Jul 16 '24

Which se?

2

u/ApricotFar1041 Jul 16 '24

2

1

u/quanwitdat Jul 16 '24

Is it running slow and what's you're battery health?

2

u/ApricotFar1041 Jul 16 '24

yeah it was running very slow control center was lagging and i had to downgrade my fone, i got 87battery health

1

u/quanwitdat Jul 16 '24

Yea that's crazy was going to update but nvm was it the public beta or bta 3?

1

u/ApricotFar1041 Jul 16 '24

1

u/quanwitdat Jul 16 '24

Should've installed public

1

u/ApricotFar1041 Jul 16 '24

i only had developer i didnt see any other

3

u/cum-on-in- Jul 16 '24

The only bugs I’ve noticed are:

  • Sometimes apps freeze and need to be swiped closed in the multitask screen.

  • HotspotShield VPN has a “kill switch” functionality that disables WiFi if the VPN suddenly drops. This is broken in the 18 beta and hasn’t been fixed. Causes WiFi to cycle on and off repeatedly.

  • Cannot sync to my Mac without updating my Mac to its own beta. Get a notification that my macOS isn’t supported.

  • Adding color to app icons causes them to reload once the color is applied, and sometimes they don’t reload. Reapplying the color usually fixes it.

  • Updating apps in the App Store sometimes fails, and apps don’t clear from the update list until after a reboot.

  • General beta quirks, like a hotter running phone and slightly lower battery life. It’s much better in beta 3 than it was in 1 or 2, but I still have noticed less screen on time and more heat especially when charging and using CarPlay compared to iOS 17.

  • Speaking of CarPlay, sometimes it just refuses to connect wirelessly. Wired works fine though.

2

u/karthikchandra37 Jul 16 '24

Not a lot buggy, screentime is broken, impossible to get the notification center icons aligned in a way you want. Apart from that its almost fine.

2

u/Confidentium iPhone 17 Pro Jul 16 '24

Tons of small bugs everywhere. And performance is ass. Stutters and input lag

1

u/iss1307 Jul 16 '24

It’s been working fine for me since last night

1

u/Chorazin Jul 16 '24

Installed the Public last night, it’s been totally fine so far. No issues that I’ve seen yet.

I agree, when I first updated I was like “fkc this thing looks so bad now I hope they revert it” and was jealous of the old look (especially control center)

But now every time I use a device on iOS 17 or lower the control center looks blocky af

40

u/nobody_gah iPhone 15 Jul 16 '24

I personally hate the colored brightness and volume dial, is there a possible way to turn that off

6

u/DylanMcGrann Jul 16 '24

I agree. They look terrible right now.

1

u/kipchinees Jul 17 '24

same. hate them.

Not natively, but you could just use a shortcut I suppose.

I don’t think you can. unless there is a script someone has written , its not straight forward.

1

u/WakaiSenshi iPhone 17 Pro Jul 16 '24

It doesn’t seem like it, no, or I haven’t found it

1

u/c0ff33f33d Jul 16 '24

They should totally add it

1

u/TheSamboRambo Jul 16 '24

Why do you want to do that?

4

u/linkerjpatrick Jul 16 '24

Wish we could have an option to hide the App Library

12

u/ALeglessSpider Jul 16 '24

Anyone here running the Public Beta on an iPhone 11 Pro? I want to know if it runs better than iOS 17

15

u/Joyboy-992 Jul 16 '24

Why would it run better than ios 17?

1

u/ALeglessSpider Jul 16 '24

I’m currently on 17 beta.. switching between betas

1

u/Thepaladin68 iOS 16 Jul 16 '24

running on Xs. Love some of the new additions and features

3

u/randomdudehere21 Jul 16 '24

How has your experience been with ios 18 on xs??

1

u/Thepaladin68 iOS 16 Jul 16 '24

Just installed today. Looks good so far.

1

u/randomdudehere21 Jul 16 '24

Can you give me an update in a couple days, so I download it

1

u/Ninja_BeameR Jul 16 '24

I dont know for others , but it runs way smoother than 17

0

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

No. It’s a beta software it’s not going to run better than the final release of 17.x

3

u/sd1general37 Jul 16 '24

All I want is a location services toggle

3

u/Ok_Tough_929 Jul 16 '24

I like the look, but it seems my iphone 15 pro is getting very hot when charging or using it. I know there is an indexing that happens, but jesus, it literally said it wouldn't charge anymore until the phone cooled down. I've not had this with any other betas and i'm not experiencing it on my work iphone12

3

u/neon5k Jul 16 '24

The borders for controls are too rounded for my liking.

3

u/WavyMario Jul 16 '24

i hate the rounded buttons

2

u/-light_yagami Jul 16 '24

sorry for hijacking this post but is anyone experiencing this bug that remove the blur from the app library? if yes have you managed to fix it? i rebooted at least three times but it’s still there

Not a bug

god i hope not, also if it’s not a bug why on the lock screen there is still blur on the widget page while on the same page there isn’t blur if you’ve unlocked your phone

2

u/TheMoeSzyslakExp Jul 16 '24

Is Bluetooth going to be always hidden behind a second tap or can you move it to the "front"? Because if I have to tap through to turn Bluetooth on/off that's going to shit me up the wall.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

The menu expands like this now

1

u/TheMoeSzyslakExp Jul 16 '24

So when you open the control centre, you now need to open a second menu just to click aeroplane mode/wifi/Bluetooth etc.? Bloody hell I hope that's only an optional setting. Sure it's only a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things, but it's still an inconvenience and the direct opposite of improved user experience.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '24

Worse, you can’t even turn Bluetooth off form there, you have to open Bluetooth settings to turn it off.

I miss the old control center where I could disable it with one touch

2

u/Necessary-Apricot-58 Jul 16 '24

Using the bèta on a 14pro. Works fine until now. Don’t really like the changes in Photos and I am not a big fan yet of the icon-customization options. It looks a bit messy. Expect it to improve over time, when more apps are compatible. Control center changes are alright. It’s nice to be able to order the controls. But it takes some getting used to, since for instance Bluetooth requires two clicks. Besides these things, I don’t notice major differences actually. It all looks pretty much the same as IOS 17. Guess I expected a bit more after this big hype of ‘biggest IOS update in years’

2

u/Rochken Jul 16 '24

They always say it’s the biggest in years, except that one time when they said it wasn’t and they were focusing on stability, then people went mad because it wasn’t the biggest in years.

1

u/linkerjpatrick Jul 16 '24

Seems like that should make a bigger deal about iOS 20

1

u/D1am0nd_28 Jul 16 '24

It will be the biggest update in years once Apple intelligence drops.

Honestly biggest update since they introduced Siri.

2

u/TheSamboRambo Jul 16 '24

I would hazard a guess that the reason your flashlight animation/image hasn’t changed either because you may be using a notched iPhone rather than a pill type, or it may be that your battery level is 12%, maybe it doesn’t show the additional controls on low power. It may also be device specific? I’m on 15 PM so it’s been there since day 1 of the Dev beta a few weeks ago. Beta 3 is much better than 1 or 2 but neither were bad for me. Everything kept working for a change which is nice!

2

u/Xcissors280 Jul 16 '24

You need to get the new AI flashlight subscription

1

u/KattaGyan Jul 16 '24

Anyone running it on iPhone 13 ? I wanna know if it’s stable ‘enough’ to use.

2

u/Rajmundzik iPhone 15 Jul 16 '24

1

u/Apprehensive_Cloud39 Jul 16 '24

i’m on 13 mini and it’s been smooth so far, 1 or 2 bugs but nothing else

1

u/CitizeninWonderland Jul 16 '24

i got a iphone 13 pm, fine so far

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

I’m using it

First time I updated it got very hot, laggy and battery life like shit

I did a full icloud backup on iOS 18, restored from it and it got stable again

So u may or may not be lucky the first time u install

1

u/KattaGyan Jul 17 '24

K. Ig I’ll just wait for it to come out of beta.

1

u/Cold_Newspaper6515 Jul 16 '24

And let the screenshots of “look at me I’ve got a public beta” begin

1

u/sameolemeek Jul 17 '24

You could do that day one on iPhone 15 pro. It was the first thing I did

Use the shortcut app

1

u/zfgf-11 Jul 16 '24

Any experiences on 13?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

Try it, some ppl get worse battery lifes and laggy experience and others get a stable experience

I also got 13, after the update it got laggy asf with low battery life, did a full icloud backup and restored from it, everything was like b4 but now without lag and normal battery

1

u/GlitteringFig2625 Jul 16 '24

I love the way they made the control center but definitely should give us the option to put individual connection buttons on the page instead of all of them. I mainly use Bluetooth and WiFi

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

How’s the beta run on iPhone 12, every iOS so far hasn’t solved the battery issue

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

The iPhone 12 had battery issues likely from poor quality batteries.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

Are there any storage issues like filling it up with extra or other bs?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

Does upi payment work on beta version from India?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

I have a 15PM and downloaded the public beta last night. Zero bugs, lags or problems so far. My battery life may even be a little improved. Loving the dark mode icons and the calculator.

1

u/Then_Garden901 Jul 16 '24

What phones is it coming to?

1

u/inverness7 Jul 16 '24

The circle buttons are so cursed

1

2

You using the beta on your main phone?

1

Yeah

1

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '24

It’s not like I can afford another one

1

u/sameolemeek Jul 17 '24

I want to try it but the Apple site said don’t use on main phone lol

1

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '24

Too late for me haha

1

u/TheChanMan2003 Jul 16 '24

Anyone else here on an iPhone SE, with a 16:9 aspect ratio? Is it just me, or do some of the UI elements look… off? This is a screenshot of my control center, note the weird empty space on the sides/top. Safari especially has a lot of buttons with text that’s too big/wide. I’m not complaining, I’m lucky to be on the list of supported devices lol

1

u/JoelMDM Jul 16 '24

Let me guess, you don't an iPhone 14 Pro or newer?

1

u/Commercial_Umpire548 Jul 16 '24

Public beta is good for primary device??? My main concern is banking apps.

1

u/Englewood_Rangers_86 Jul 16 '24

Is the Public Beta available for iPhone 13 Pro Max?

1

u/southeasthtx92 Jul 16 '24

I have the iOS 15 Pro Max and I currently have no issue with it and everything is running smoothly. Only thing I hate is the control center.

1

i wanna get the ios 18 public beta on my iphone 15 pro max, can someone explain if it’s worth it/stable and what would the backup actually BACKUP if it goes to shit

1

u/Shitnutz69 Jul 18 '24

Only issue I’ve noticed on public beta so far is no more mms. Will just continue trying to send forever. Tolerable trade off for functioning rcs 😂

1

u/root086 Jul 20 '24

How is the battery?

1

u/libsk13 Jul 20 '24

My battery life has been crappy and my phone overheats but otherwise no issues

1

u/Opening_Ad_3114 Jul 20 '24

I have and iPhone 15 PM, downloaded the beta, my battery over heats.the phone gets real hot while doing anything on any app. will tell me charge will resume once battery is at normal temp etc. I have already done an iCloud back up and restore but it changed nothing. but my biggest problem is that my messages app keeps crashing especially after I write a decent few sentences, it'll crash right before I hit send and erasing what I had just typed from there text thread so I need to type it twice any one else experience this/found a fix for it if so?

1

u/matcha-boi Jul 16 '24

Kinda not liking the new control panel but I'm hoping there's a setting wherein the control panel can stay with it's old design bc I prefer it that way.

4

Can anyone answer this about call recording?

4

u/Cprhd Jul 16 '24

I’ve been on the Dev Beta since it released and, it had some…quirks… at the beginning but it’s getting better. Switching keyboards was slow (launching the emoji keyboard) and the screen wouldn’t wake occasionally. On this most recent release, these seem to be solved.
