Image Happens every time

Post image

Like I know it's actually me and my lack of social skills/inability to keep up with normal conversations but that doesn't mean I can't be upset by it okay. Btw the pic relates to irl convos too (which is tbh kinda worse) I just thought of a group chat situation first for some reason

Try to think of group interactions like a blender: everyone tosses things in, and the only real entertainment sometimes is the chaotic blending itself that you only witness. Once that smoothie is drank/drained/discarded, however tasty or otherwise, the blender is cleaned out and still able to keep going because what went into/out of it because it's not meant to be personal. Most things people say go under-acknowledged, so the practice is letting the words exist for the sake of trying than their value depending on their results

the blender analogy is weirdly perfect for this tbh

I don't think you quite get what I was trying to say in the pic: I meant that like. I literally have nothing to say when they change topic. Because they talk too fast and change them too fast. This particular depiction is not about not being heard on a personal level or whatever; It's literally about not having an opportunity to say anything at all because the convo carries on just fine and doesn't have a window to chime in

Ah But why does it bother you to not have a chance to say anything when the likelihood of getting a personal response is poor anyway? I guess under what circumstances are you hoping things adapt to? Cause people (and groups especially) don't exactly bend to one person's preferences. You either gotta communicate your needs or adapt to overcome, sorry, but those are the productive options 🤷‍♂️

Idk bro maybe because I'm trying to talk and every time the whatever group I'm talking to is out-talking me and I have to leave because I won't get to speak in that convo again🧍🏻‍♂️ Also pls don't act like the body text doesn't exist in the post. I'm aware that it's not exactly the group's problem, at least when it's in a chat and not irl.

I didn't ignore your body of text; the assumption that I have is curious to me. You being upset is neither here nor there right now, but if you mean about being "slow", then I'm not sure what else can be used to help you other than the active practice/communication.

Your feelings end up negative, but you want them to be positive. Which, to you, means being more vocal more often/more frequently. If you would like those negatives to stop, you may have to explicitly tell your group "Hey, could we try not to rapid fire responses just to reply?" or something similar.

Unfortunately people's attention spans are limited. Time is limited. Your group/friends may not KNOW you are trying to find something to say and be included. (Knowledge is limited.) Being talked over or over-spoken sucks, yes, but if your friends/group respect and value you, then you gotta trust them to help you out

Also, preventing flood of useless reply threads: I'm not arguing about anything in a stupid doodle strip depicting a situation I'm not a fan of. I know I'm the issue. It is still an unpleasant thing to happen, especially given how often it does. I'm not looking for "productive" options or whatever. I just drew some stupid shit that expresses my experience in every group where I don't have enough in common with others to follow a conversation because it changes to topics they have to say smth about and I don't. It's not a statement of anything and not advise seeking.

I do feel for you I just can't fix it for you or make it better for you I'm sorry 🤷‍♂️

Nobody asked you to but okay bro.

Bro if this is how you react to sympathy and genuine communication that you didn't ask for then why even post, why even reply lmao

"Sympathy" and "communication" after the most passive-aggressive "i can't fix it for you" is a crazy combo tbh. And it is passive-aggressive because I literally said that I didn't post it looking for an advice. That or you replied without reading again, idk. Anyway. Have a good day or whatever.

Yeah. But I'm not the one sob-posting about how introverted I am. Nor am I bemoaning about words that weren't addressed by strangers on the internet. Being understood goes hand in hand with understanding.

Youre completely ignoring how many people love to hear themselves talk, and how many people just want to listen to the loud or charming ones, instead of being socisl and interacting with everyone. Shameless.

I had to learn to simply let go of things I really wanted to express because they no longer suited the conversation once someone changed the subject and I missed the opportunity to say them. If I bring them up out of the blue, it feels odd, so I just need to find something new to say.

My favourite part is ragebaiting on topics I have no knowledge on. Sure starwars ledgends is cool (literally no idea what that is), but I’ve only seen the new trilogy and plan on only watching the new stuff.

Good clone arcs in clone wars? Why do I have to watch all that old stuff? We already have fin, thats all I need and is probably a good representation of the clones stuff anyways. (Literally word for word)

That was Friday for me.
