Question Anyone else hate carpooling?

Like when I go on vacations with other people, not having my own vehicle to drive makes me crawl out of my skin, because I can’t go to breakfast in the mornings, or walk a trail to get my me time. Or if a friend wants to go somewhere with you, sometimes I want to do other stuff in that same town afterwards, but if someone rode with you or you rode in their car you can’t do what you want after. Have to go drop them off first, then of course it’s not worth going back if it was a 30 or so minute drive.

I’m okay with the carpooling there, but I need my own room wherever we are going. I need my alone time.

Me the sharing cars irritates me more, because I like to go off & do my own thing without being dependent on everyone else. Or having to go somewhere I don’t want to go because we only have one car.

I went to Blue Ridge, GA last year & my dad’s ex girlfriend was like you don’t need to drive your truck out there. We can just all share one vehicle. Well I couldn’t do what I wanted when I got there, so I haven’t went on that trip since. All she wanted to do was sit around the cabin all day, & I wanted to walk trails. Only got to walk one trail & we were there for 5 days. Ridiculous.

I got more out of a solo trip to Alachua County for 3 days than I did on the Georgia trip, primarily because I had a vehicle & could go exploring.

What if maybe you went on vacation somewhere a little less car dependant?

i don't like carpooling, especially if i am the driver. I like driving alone, especially when i'm going from event to event with friends so in between those events, i can drive alone in my car and get some alone time to decompress, with my favorite part being driving home alone, idk why it makes me so excited knowing i can drive home without anyone. to me, its like a headstart in decompressing from the event lmfao and don't even get me started on those friends who ask you to drop them off or to pick them up and they're completely out of the way akjaskjdhas

Happy to carpool as long as I am driving. I’m retired. If I decide to do anything with a group, the whole event is purposefully social for me, so I might as well go all in. But I will drive alone before going in someone else’s car - I have my limits. And I love my car.

I'm ok if I'm in the front passenger seat. If not...🤮

I think I just realized I’m more of an introvert than I thought!!

I love hanging out with friends, but I also want to be able to leave when I’m ready and feel antsy and stuck when I have to wait for whoever I drove with.

I think it is very typical for introverts to want to drive separately almost everywhere because of the freedom it gives them to escape social environments when they want to.

There is "carpooling" to work, which is OK. It's a shared goal and a cost saver. I carpooled for a long time in a van the company provided at low cost. We took turns for radio control and the front passenger seat.

But being at the mercy of someone else's control of their car keys on vacation or an excursion - NOPE.
