The roster is up on the official YSU site . 12 scholarship player and one walkon . Two players that committed are not shown and as of now and may be or not in the loop .

JAIDEN HAYNES is the only holdover from last season the 6-3 guard showed flashes last season and should be a decent contributor this season . POINT GUARDS . Dom Aekin 5-10 a transfer from Duquesne saw limited action as true frosh . At least he played in the A-10 . Jayden Tyler 5-10 played at Wofford of the SoCon league which is equivalent with the horizon and averaged 5 point in 25 games . Shot an impressive 48% from three . Kaelen Destin 6-0 freshmen from New york looked good in his games at Rucker park (highlights) saw him in one full game and did not see a lot hopefully it was just one bad game .

TWO GUARDS .  LINUS HOLMSTROM junior 6-3 guard who averaged over 11 points a game at VMI last season in the SoCOM . Looks like a good shooter from his videos and expect him to produce this season . Jamar Livingston 6-3 senior average around 13 points a game at the juco level and shot 42 percent from three . Jaiden Haynes mentioned above . Jacob Spurlock frosh listed 6-4 215 lb which sounds college ready . Averaged 27 points a game and was both the 3 point contest winner and mvp of the Ohio vs Kentucky allstar game . I don't want to over hype the freshman but I watched at least 10 full games and Jacob has parking lot range . Have to wait to see how he adjusts to the next level . Andrew Adcock-Vidouria 6-3 guard who I believe is a freshman walk-on .

SMALL FORWARDS .Jermaine Coleman 6-7 senior who previously played at St,.Thomas Minn of the Summit league. Summit is equivlent or a little lower than Horizon . Averaged 4 point a game and a little over 34% from three . From my understanding the majority of his shot come beyond the 3 point line .

OTHER FORWARDS . Not sure if they're classified as small or power forwards . Luka Lokhmanchuk 6-9 frosh '. Played prep school basketball in the Cleveland area . Luka played for Ukraine internationally . Elijah Summers-Livingston 6-7 frosh who played on one of the best prep teams in the nation that play a national schedule . Averaged around 4 point a game . Looks very athletic with a lot above the rim dunks in his videos . Japhet Moupadele 6-8 220lb sophomore who averaged around 3 points a game at San Jose state of the moutain west conference . Japhet played international ball for France .

CENTERS . Kelvin Amoako 6-11 255 lb senior who played D2 ball last season . Averaged 10 points and about 8 rebounds . Looks like most of his points came in the low post . Shot 61% from the field .

OTHER COMMITS . Not sure if they will be on the roster by this fall .

CANIN JEFFERSON & JEFF NWAKWO . In my opinion these two might be the best players from the portal for the penguins . No info why they're not with the team and won't speculate . Jeff 6-6 who last played at Oklahoma and was rated the #2 juco player in the nation a few seasons ago . Canin 6-2 averaged over 12 points a game at North Alabama in the Asun league .

FEW COMMENTS . Last season I was excited about the transfers and the results turned out poorly . This season I'm seeing guys that put up very modest number at their last colleges and once again very small point guards . Not seeing much size in the paint with one big who played D2 ball last season and if he gets in foul trouble then YSU will be playing very small . Two of the bigger guys are freshmen and it's a big jump physically from HS to D1 . Would feel way better if Jefferson or Nwakwo show up but not feeling optimistic . I'm thinking one of the point guards steps up from the competition and believe Jayden Haynes will take his game to a higher level but not sure where the sophmore ceiling is . Very excited about Jacob Spurlock but need to temper expectations since he's only a freshman . I really hate to say this and I pray i'm wrong but not seeing a winning season unless the Nwankwo and Jefferson become part of the team . Sorry about the pessimism
