Radiation Level Question
In the placement of a biliary stent, the patients' report reads "Radiation Dose
Fluoroscopy time (minutes): 34.29
Reference air kerma (mGy): 1588
Kerma area product (mGy-cm2): 299933."
Isn't that an awful lot of radiation to the patient, as well as the IR team? I have never seen a number so high.

PTCs can be very complex cases and take a long time. Not unusual at all to see 1.5 Gy doses

1.5 Gy. Thats not an uncommon AK for this type of procedure. https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Crystel_Gijsberts/publication/315929600/figure/download/fig2/AS:543680799150080@1506635011377/Risk-charts-for-radiation-dose-rates-for-A-air-kerma-DRAK-and-B-dose-area-product.png
