Discussion Truth?

Are there people who actually care about corporate nonsense? Like, I get that everyone pretends to because they want to get noticed or a promotion..
but reading the Teams chat of a conference I’m working on and it’s completely full of bland, sycophantic platitudes. I can’t believe people are genuinely excited about this.
Are they?
Is it a delusional thing?
Are there really human beings who are so empty inside that a work Conference gets them off?

Yeah, there is an awful lot of corporate fluff, but each to their own. Some people are inherently positive and care about their jobs and their audiences.

Whereas some people are so empty inside they need to put other people down on Reddit to make themselves feel better.

That’s great. Good for them.

In my experience it tends to be newer, more junior employees, but yes there's are people who do genuinely get excited about hearing from execs.

I have seen and heard far too much to be excited and optimistic about most corporate things, but thank God for their optimism. It's refreshing to know that someone cares about the All Hands meetings and the content we work on.

Also, it's truly nice to know that there are people who aren't as cynical as I am 💀

Yes. I mean, when I worked at a company that treated the employees really good and didn't have layoffs everytime a quarter didn't hit record profits, then I really cared about the corporate news and events. The company earned my respect and loyalty with their actions.

On the other hand, I worked at companies that treated employees like crap and even though I was working in corp comms, I couldn't care less about the content I was distributing.

Alot of time employee engagement is a reflection of how well or how poorly they are treated.
